T minus 20 days until Ioana and Andrew’s big day at one of the most stunning properties I’ve ever seen!
Today I dropped off the most beautiful vintage couch and chair set that I was able to procure for this couple, and what a blast it was finding these pieces! With a beautiful story behind the set (The couch’s owners came to Canada from England in the 60s and insisted that this couch set came with them so they shipped it to their home in Almonte Ontario where it’s been ever since), we were able to save it from going to a landfill, and giving the set even more of a unique story!

💍Get your gorgeous engagement ring cleaned before the big day! You’ve been wearing it for months or years at this point, and it’s bound to need some love and attention! Not to mention that first symbolic ring is going to get photographed A LOT during your wedding day!
✅ You can buy many quick ring cleaning pens in store or online (I keep one in my kit as well), but my personal preference is opting to go into a jewelry store and they’ll often clean it for free and with professional grade cleaning solutions, ensuring the brightest sparkle from your ring!

💡 I got asked this question today and wanted to share: Are wedding welcome signs necessary?
✅ In theory … no not at all. If your guest’s followed Google maps to your wedding location, chances are they get the point that it’s your wedding. But I do still love me a good wedding welcome sign!
✅ It’s the beginning of your day for your guests and is one of their first tangible experience into what the rest of the day will entail!
✅ It’s going to be photographed … a lot. Photographer, videographer, and guests alike will be wanting to take some snaps in-front of the sign, and it makes for some lovely shots in your delivered album and/or video.
✅ Multipurpose! Use it at your ceremony space, and then have it relocated to the entrance of your reception! You can also repurpose it in your home as a decoration piece as an extra added bonus.
The only time I would say you absolutely NEED a welcome sign is when you’re at a venue where multiple events could be going on at once or it’s a large space that’s not just dedicated to your wedding (hotels as an example).

I’m kinda good at tent weddings and it’s what I specialize in! The majorities of my weddings this season and next are of the tent variety and I 👏🏻 CAN’T 👏🏻 WAIT 🎪
✅ QUICK TIP FOR NEWLY ENGAGED AND PLANNING: I have folks that come to me with the assumption that tent weddings are cheaper because you’re getting married on meemaw’s 20 acre farmstead and it just can’t be that expensive.💲
I’m so sorry but it’s SO expensive. Think of it this way: you’re building a venue from the ground up. Full stop. 🛑 ✋🏻
These are beautiful beautiful weddings that likely have meaning to the couple, and imo, this makes it all worth it 🤍 BUT there are a lot of logistics that go into this kind of wedding (arguably more than a venue) and you’ve absolutely gotta consider a planner. If a planner isn’t in your budget, that’s okay! But I promise you’re going to want to make room in the budget for a coordinator, at minimum 🙋🏻♀️📋

Not to mention it’s so fun to add subtle nods to you and your love story (table numbers with the couple at that age, anyone?! Tables labelled by places the couple has travelled?! The options are endless!)
Looking to save a little money but still want the show stopping table and fantastic photos? I personally love having the head table/sweetheart table go all out, and then having the guest tables toned down (like in these pictures). 🤵🏻♂️ Don’t forget to dress according to your own dress code! White-Tie event? Bust out the tux and feel the most James-Bondy-ist (sp?) you’ll ever feel! Semi formal? Rules are looser, and you can try to experiment with colour and fabrics and even skip the tie if you want to.

🤵🏻♂️ Wedding Attire by season. Getting married outside in 30+ degree weather, you may be rethinking that tuxedo and could want to opt for something without a coat (sweat stains probably aren’t the vibe for your pictures!). Ask my own husband and groomsmen who wore coats/button ups and bow ties on our wedding day that felt like 40 degrees outside (oops 😬)

🤵🏻♂️ Want your partner to stand out from the groomsmen? So many different ways to do this! Have him wear the jacket/vest/button up combo and have the groomsmen wear a jacket/button up/tie combo. Have him wear a different coloured jacket (white coat, black lapels anyone?!) from the others. Put a corsage and pocket square only on him (and save money on only one corsage!). Seriously; so many fun options here!

Did you get engaged over the holidays? 💍 Well first things first, congratulations! The initial surprise and excitement may be beginning to wear off and now you’re thinking “OMG I have to plan a wedding?!”. Read on for my top tips on keeping a clear head and streamlining your wedding planning journey:
1️⃣: Define your vision and values as a couple for your wedding day.
You’ve probably been on Pinterest and TikTok 34 times today alone looking at wedding inspo, but remember that social media and real life are two very different things and it’s important to ground yourself in yours and your partner’s own reality! Sit down and describe your joint vision and goals for the wedding. Refer back to this list often to avoid disagreements. Remember to fight the problem, not each other! Ask yourselves later on, “does this follow our vision?” If yes, then maybe it’s worth a splurge or additional man power. If no? Let it go.
2️⃣: Getting Organized
A wedding planner is going to take this entire point away from you and allow you to enjoy the engagement period, stress free! But this isn’t in the budget for everyone. It’s time for you both to GET ORGANIZED. I’m talking excel sheets, Google docs, IPhone notes, a trip to Staples and getting notebooks and pretty coloured hi-lighters. Whatever it is that organization looks like to you, do it. Vendor management is CRAZY difficult and don’t get lost in the kerfuffle by being disorganized!
3️⃣: Outsource When Possible.
I know, I know, this is like asking us type A people to jump out of an airplane without a parachute (exaggeration? Not for us type A’s!). BUT it takes 300-400+ hours to plan a wedding from start to finish, it’s OKAY to ask for help (yes type A bride that’s reading this, I’m looking at you!). Your closest friends and family want to be there for you during this exciting time and why not let them by reaching out and clearly detailing what you need done?

To veil or not to veil? My answer is always 100% a resounding YES! But this isn’t the case for everyone!
PROS:
1️⃣ STU 👏🏻 NN 👏🏻 ING 👏🏻 pictures that you’ll never regret.
2️⃣ It truly completes the look and almost always gives you that “wow … I’m actually a bride” feeling ❤️
3️⃣ Two different looks. Most brides will wear it for the ceremony and take it off during reception. If you’re not into the recent 2 or more dress trend, then this is a great option for having two different looks!
4️⃣ Incorporating an heirloom. I loved my mom’s wedding dress, but quite frankly, it just wasn’t my style for MY big day, and I think that’s true for most brides! If a loved one or even someone who has passed kept their veil, it can be a truly beautiful way to add them into your wedding ❤️
CONS
1️⃣ Price. I think all of us were a little sticker shocked that first time the bridal stylist told us the price of that cathedral length, 3D Appliqué, full lace veil! Veils in a bridal shop can range anywhere from 300$ to the thousands. If price is your concern and you’re not set on a bridal shop veil, my tip is to go shop on Etsy! (That’s where this veil in the picture is from!)
2️⃣ Competing with a very detailed gown. Sometimes a veil can be a lot when having a beautifully detailed gown and a lot of brides don’t want to take away from it (you spent all that money on it, make sure you show it off now)!
3️⃣ Potential nuicance. Most people will just deal with it to complete the look, but for many, it can get in the way. Wind? Get caught in jewellery? Snag on a rock for outdoor weddings? All things to consider before making the decision.
TIPS
1️⃣ Choose your dress first.
2️⃣ Find a veil that fits your hairstyle. Your hair WILL determine the placement and look of your veil!
3️⃣ Have it pinned by your hairstylist, it’s harder than it looks!
4️⃣ Have that baby steamed and laid out AT LEAST the day before your big day. Tulle wrinkles something fierce!

You said I do, you’ve been running around all day and it’s finally time to sit down and EAT. But wait, everyone wants to stop and talk to you, aaand now your plate is getting cleared away along with all that money you spent on this meal! Read on to find tips and tricks to avoiding this very common situation. ➡️➡️➡️

1️⃣: 🍝DINNER FOR TWO🍝 A trendy option is to have your meal ALONE with your new spouse. I’ve seen people do this during cocktail hour while everyone else is enjoying drinks and H’ors Douvres, while the newlyweds have their plates brought to a private place and you get to talk and be alone for a little while. Make sure you have a great day of coordinator to coordinate this with your catering company, photog/videographer, etc 😉 This also allows you to go visit with your guests during or in between courses at your reception.

2️⃣: 🍝 RECEIVING LINE🍝 This one is pretty traditional for those traditionalists out there! Once everyone is entering the reception area, you and your spouse stand infront of the entrance and say hello to each person before they enter. This ensures you get a chance to talk to everyone, even for a minute or two. Again, ensure you have a great day of coordinator and timeline to ensure the line keeps moving and you stay on schedule.

3️⃣: 🍝 TABLE DASH 🍝 Depending on how big your wedding is, another option is to have your DJ announce they will be playing two songs, and the couple will be going to each table to get a photograph with the entire table. I recommend doing this immediately after grand entrance so that tables are clean and there’s no half eaten courses ruining your photos. This ensures you see everyone and they won’t be as inclined to visit you during your meal. You’ll have to work vigorously with your dj and photographer on this one! Why not hire a day of coordinator to do that for you and let you stress less 😉

4️⃣: 🍝 TO-GO CONTAINER 🍝 Don’t sweat it if you missed your meal. Just get your coordinator to ask your catering company to pack some to go boxes for you and your spouse! You’re going to need it after all the partying you’ve been doing!
