As you probably saw on my stories, this passed week we had a Friday wedding, Saturday wedding, Sunday wedding, and a Monday-Wednesday giant corporate event that had us basically living at the .cna for 7 straight days and racing back to our home studio to work in-between events.

Everything went extremely well and all our clients were very, very happy with everything we produced. This was our first wedding from our week at the NAC, and I really loved the soft take on an autumn colour palette.

Year 12 versus Year 1! ➡️

The photos from Year 1 are from the first wedding that ever signed an official contract with me (negotiated in a Moxies with a terrified Brittany who prepared an entire monologue for a sales pitch). Their wedding happened to be at the NAC in the old Panorama Room, which has since been completely renovated and renamed the Canada Room.

At some point this year, I hit event #700, which is wild. I remember each and every one of them intimately. I’m so proud and honoured to have been a part of some of the biggest moments in so many people’s lives. Thank you everyone who has trusted me, worked with me, and supported me over the years.

Entering this new chapter as the NAC’s exclusive design partner feels like I’ve hit a peak in my career, one that I value tremendously and one that is allowing us to build significantly and dream big with support and stability over the next few years of this contract. We couldn’t have asked for more, especially at this time in our lives.

With by my side, anything and everything is possible.

I can’t *believe* I haven’t shared this one yet!! Lee and I flew to Bali the very next day and I never actually revisited it. It just popped into my head tonight and I didn’t even realize that I had the full gallery!

Shelby & Matthew had a NYE banger at . They wanted a cocktail-style wedding, so there were no guest tables and all the typical tradition for a wedding that you’re used to seeing.

Designing cocktail-style events can be extremely challenging if the client doesn’t trust the designer. You have to really understand how to balance seating, interaction stations, unique timelines, and general guest comfort - which I think I’m particularly solid with, and I’m very glad that my couple leaned in and trusted my opinions. They also have killer taste and a great sense of style, and this wedding was a blast!!

These are officially my favourite wedding party & couple portraits ever, btw. absolutely crushed the vibe. Their portraits at and the War Museum absolutely killed me, so bloody cool!

I know I already shared my own BTS pictures from Emily & Gabriel’s wedding at the NAC a couple weeks ago, but the sneak peeks literally came two days after the wedding (amazing) and I obviously love them *way* more, so I’m sharing this one twice!

Great photographers (not me) really know how to show what the event design *feels* like in person, and I think captured the vibe beautifully. Modern, crisp, minimalist but warm and inviting. Love it!

We rented a tent for a corporate event last week and it made me think of one of my favourite weddings ever. A tented wedding at my bride’s family cottage… in a time of ABSOLUTE CHAOS.

This was my first Covid wedding, and it was right on the heat of restrictions changing weekly and no one knowing what was allowed.

Everything went wrong. I mean everything. Their venue cancelled. The DJ didn’t show up. The officiant wasn’t comfortable attending. We couldn’t do a normal service because rules were so restrictive… it didn’t end.

So, I officiated the wedding (I’ve actually done it 4 times now). I also DJ’d. I distributed charcuterie boxes because we couldn’t do a sharing board and sorted out the food service. We strung all the lights, stoked the fire pit, set up the bar, you name it. And it was awesome.

There was so much meaning in every single corner of this wedding. I literally remember every detail, from the sailboat on the stationery to the hand-stamped favour boxes, maple syrup favours, and flowers I truly poured my heart into. Man, it was truly a wonderful, wonderful weekend, even in the midst of the scariest period of my life/career. Julie & Sean, thank you for trusting me with literally everything!

I tried really hard to take such nice photos of all the details from last weekend’s wedding but I’m still so rusty with my camera that I’m afraid I didn’t do it justice before my battery died altogether. I was using as target practice to figure out my lighting and the ones of him are actually my favourite!

Emily & Gabriel (going in my hall of fame as easiest/nicest clients ever) came to our Open House at the NAC in Jan and they loved our set up of a welcome area, so we duplicated parts of it and flipped it to their colour palette and boom! Looks like a totally different event while still incorporating all the key ingredients.

To all my awesome new followers from the NAC… if you haven’t noticed from my IG yet: I like to play with colour. 🎨

So many of you aren’t sure how to use colour and default to a basic white wedding, and I get it! White can be stunning, and comfortable. My goal is to show you how colour can be those things too, and in ways that you maybe haven’t considered yet.

“Classic, timeless, simple” are the three words we hear the most when clients start the design process with us. But those words work with colour too if white feels too safe to you.

So what I really want to know is… what colour defines *you*?

Friends, I need navy blue to make a comeback. 💙

We’re designing a lot of fall events right now, and it brought me back to this lovely one. My favourite combo with navy blue is actually mauve, but I absolutely loved designing this Autumn-inspired, MCM vibe at for Bethany & Rick last year.

I haven’t used my professional camera in many, many, years, but in the last few weeks I dusted it off to start shooting our own work and sharing it as quickly as possible to help new clients visualize our work within the NAC. So let’s start with this gorgeous wedding from last week!

We loved creating this dreamy mandap for Shivangi & Ethan’s ceremony at the NAC. We started in the Lantern Room with soft whites, creams, peaches, blushes and sages to match Shivangi’s saree on a large white chiffon mandap. The room looked particularly amazing with our new Folding Ghost Chairs!

Then, in the O’born Room, we went a little bolder and incorporated all the same colours but added their favourite colour, burgundy, to all the florals. Paired with dusty sage napkins, ivory linens, and mahogany chiavari chairs, we think it turned out quite beautifully! They were thrilled ✨
