One of my favourites of the year: a very special birthday for a beloved Ottawa figure. Her daughters threw her a wonderful 80th birthday earlier this year, and they gave us complete creative direction.

I’ve always loved this combo of hunter green and fuchsia. I designed these tables to be a modern, cleaner take of the typically boho-styled jewel tone palette. The tropicals make those colours pop hard.

This was the definition of the ANTI-WEDDING. The bride wanted dead flowers, the groom is in a heavy metal band, and these two NYC rockers wanted me to unleash.

Details: mixtape table numbers, dried floral installations everywhere, texture layered on texture, gothic-vibes with candelabras and Edison bulbs that light up the room and reflected on the walls made of glass, menus designed like vinyl records, 80s headbanger fonts, even a champagne wall with custom guitar pick es**rt cards. And there is SO much more.

That last photo of me fist-pumping is when they saw me for the first time (I was at another incredible wedding across the street and wasn’t supposed to be there at all) and they lost it and told me I absolutely nailed it.

His tongue is blue because… one of my favourite wedding details ever… he proposed to Kaleigh with a ring pop, so we have out ring pops as favours in black boxes with black wax seals.

I absolutely loved designing this wedding.

Another very common decor request is a combo of our gray linens (the perfect dove gray) with black minimalist details like our modern black cutlery sets and acrylic black-rimmed chargers, all paired with combos of small floral centrepieces, bud vase, and lots and lots of candles 🖤🕯️🖤

📣If you haven’t heard me say it yet (but I say it all the time): linens make the biggest design impact in your venue - above all other floral and decor elements - because they physically take up the most real estate!

Here’s a perfect example of how we mixed and matched high impact linens for the forest green and juicy watermelon/fuchsia palette we had at a really wonderful wedding at 🍉

I truly can’t get over how beautiful and vibrant it still is outside this Fall. As a florist, I always clock what weeks are key for foraging, and usually by the second week of October I have a hard timing finding any usable branches and whatnot that are still colourful.

We have a lovely one coming up this weekend, but for now, a gorgeous, soft autumnal wedding we did at Stonefields for Jenny & Nick ❤️

This was from a few weeks ago for Sarah & George at the .cna - all white and black details with a slight edgy vibe. Since their ceremony was off site, we went all out for the reception details. Upgraded black chiavari chair, loads of ground florals arrangements, a selfie mirror with custom vinyl, and a dramatic floral frame for the sweetheart table, linens, candles and much more.

One of my favourites that we’ve done at the .cna so far, and we did it with one month’s notice and an uncommunicative client. It was so, so pretty in person.

As you probably saw on my stories, this passed week we had a Friday wedding, Saturday wedding, Sunday wedding, and a Monday-Wednesday giant corporate event that had us basically living at the .cna for 7 straight days and racing back to our home studio to work in-between events.

Everything went extremely well and all our clients were very, very happy with everything we produced. This was our first wedding from our week at the NAC, and I really loved the soft take on an autumn colour palette.

Year 12 versus Year 1! ➡️

The photos from Year 1 are from the first wedding that ever signed an official contract with me (negotiated in a Moxies with a terrified Brittany who prepared an entire monologue for a sales pitch). Their wedding happened to be at the NAC in the old Panorama Room, which has since been completely renovated and renamed the Canada Room.

At some point this year, I hit event #700, which is wild. I remember each and every one of them intimately. I’m so proud and honoured to have been a part of some of the biggest moments in so many people’s lives. Thank you everyone who has trusted me, worked with me, and supported me over the years.

Entering this new chapter as the NAC’s exclusive design partner feels like I’ve hit a peak in my career, one that I value tremendously and one that is allowing us to build significantly and dream big with support and stability over the next few years of this contract. We couldn’t have asked for more, especially at this time in our lives.
