The Trials of Robin Hood

The Trials of Robin Hood Robin of Locksley has been in the clink for some time now and King Richard has just returned from fighting in the crusades. Is Robin telling the truth?

Sacred Heart High School is putting on the play by Will Averill and produced by Playscripts, inc (www.playscripts.com) called "The Trials of Robin Hood" in the second week of April. Although he is weary from war, today the king is holding Robin’s trial. Now is Robin’s time to plead before his King and prove his innocence. Of course there is always more than one side to a story. First our protagonis

t tells his tale. The story we all know and love of the noble outlaw, Robin Hood. A man who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Next, the lovely Maid Marian gives her side. She tells a romantic version of the story. She flourishes Robin’s actions with love and devotion; declaring that out of love and a dire need to impress her, Robin saved Nottingham. Finally, we are entertained by the Sheriff of Nottingham and his twisted tale making Robin out to be a devious, plotting idiot and himself out to be the hero. It is up to the people of Nottingham (you) to decide. Was he acting out of love? Was he an evil lunatic?
