These special flowers were from the memorial service of a beloved grandmother and the celebration of the birth of a daughter. My client had an upcoming move and they wanted a way to protect and appreciate these very special flowers.
The first rose on the left was from the grandmother’s service. A representation of her strong legacy beginning this piece. As your eyes move right, down the frame, you process the journey through the loss. But then the legacy is reborn. The roses perk up, and new life is found in a beautiful new baby girl.

When God planted the seeds at the very start of my journey in the flower world, I never saw myself here. I saw myself as a florist, owning my own flower shop.
But then he introduced me to preservation. Gave me the passion and skills to preserve flowers. Planted another seed in me to step out in confidence and share my passion with more than just friends and friends of friends. And I have watched him time and time again orchestrate incredible moments with clients that I never could have imagined.
So when your inner voice asks you ‘why?’ - why do you want to do that, why would you try something new, why would you quit a job, why would you step out and put yourself at risk? Trust. Step out. And watch what he’ll do.

I’m tired. In all honestly. 🫠
We had a big family celebration for my parent’s milestone birthdays, then we brought my in-laws to our house for a visit, enjoyed lots of Canada Day fun, and it was all so wonderful.
But I am now ready to rest and get into this summer! I still have a number of dates available in July & August so reach out to secure your spot!
My super organized brain loves a client that pre-books months in advance.
But I know that isn’t every client. I know some people forget and it hits them Sunday morning! I know some people have no idea what bouquet preservation is. And I know some people got married years ago and didn’t know about this option for their blooms.

This is what the design phase looks like.
I’ll lay out a few different designs until we find the way your blooms fit perfectly together. Then I photograph it - so I don’t forget! Then deconstruct from the top down.
Next I begin gluing your piece layer by layer. Usually greenery, filler flowers and anything flowy first. Once that layer completely dries I can move onto the next! Until I add the final small touch into the very last empty space.
Slow and steady. Intentional and gentle. The recipe for a perfectly preserved work of floral art.
Nothing I love more than seeing your blooms come together as the perfect work of art during the gluing phase of design.

The past few weeks have been a bit crazy in our household! My hubby is away on a course for work, I’m solo parenting the best 2 little girlies, working part-time, growing Elvie’s, and we also decided to adopt a new doggo right before my husband left. So needless to say my plate is pretty full!
I have not been on here lots, but I promise you I am still here. Still responding to every inquiry and booking for this wedding season (and next!). So excited for what is to come and all of your beautiful bouquets to enter my studio!

I often get asked how I press your flowers.
And the truth is, I’m self taught. Thank you Youtube and many fellow artists for sharing your methods and teaching me. Countless hours spent educating myself, practicing, and making mistakes. So I could learn and get better results each time. So I could find what works best for me and my style.
So do you want to know how I press your blooms? 2 pieces of wood, bolts, nuts, cardboard and paper. A strict schedule of paper changes and press checks. The proper temperature & environment. Time and lots and lots of patience. Have you ever counted the petals in a ranunculus? 😂

Of course I always show off the front view of my work, but have you ever wondered what the back looks like? 🤔
When you decide to preserve your blooms in their natural 3D shape with us, they’ll immediately enter into a sealed container with a preserving agent to remove all of the moisture. They spend approximately 3-4 weeks (depending on a few factors) in this container until they are ready to come out and be designed! First things first - PPE (personal protective equipment). Wearing a mask while working with this preservation product is very important. Small particles are easily airborne like a very fine dust when it is disturbed and these particles can be harmful to your lungs! So mask is always first. Next, I work my way from the top down, gently removing the excess sand and taking out each bloom one at a time. A gentle shake or brushing helps to get all of the sand out from between those beautifully preserved petals. Once every bloom is out, I always check for any missed beauties, and then the sand gets reactivated and prepped for a new bouquet! I love that I can reuse this product to minimize my footprint on nature. Now your blooms are forever and they are ready to enter the design phase! 💐 Do you have any questions about our preservation process? Drop them in the comments!
Are you trying to decide between cherishing or tossing your special blooms? Well I am here to tell you the answer is keep them. Always keep them. Picture this, your bouquet arrives in the morning while you’re getting ready and it is such an exciting visual of the incredible day ahead. You show all your girls, and test out how it looks with your gown. You bring it with you, close (and probably tightly) down the aisle to the person you have chosen to spend forever with. It’s right there by you as you say ‘I do’. It comes down the aisle with you and your partner now that you’re one. It is a part of all of your incredible pictures. Then it always stays close by during your reception while you dine, dance and listen to some of the best speeches you’ll ever witness. Then as the evening concludes, you leave your venue and bring your blooms home. You admire them as they remind you of all the incredible moments you shared throughout the day. Then you can choose to leave them with family, or enjoy them for a week, maybe 2 until they’re ready to be composted. OR you can trust them with a professional who will turn them into art you can cherish and admire forever. 🤍 The choice seems obvious to me! 🤷🏻♀️😉 This is Holli’s 8x8” float shadowbox preservation in our butternut finish. Pressing sunflowers in my sunflower press. 🌻 When I see sunflowers come into the studio I know we have officially hit the Fall wedding season. And I love it. These cool mornings and sunny afternoons are my jam!
Closing up this finished sample frame today. Finalizing the framing stage is always so gratifying. Seeing the final piece of art together, and complete, forever. I am currently prepping a number of things for upcoming vendor and wedding shows. Stepping it up a notch this year and I can’t wait to see what you all think! ☺️ Stay tuned!
Pulling blooms out of sand today. A satisfying process where we get to see how your blooms turned out and will look in your forever piece! I was chatting with one of my friends the other day, who is also an incredible floral preservationist, Lindsey of Wild Darling Designs, and she mentioned how much she loves removing flowers from sand! It’s always fun to learn and connect with other people who do what you do. While these blooms will be going into a custom shadow box for one of my bride’s, I often get asked if I work with resin. I do not. I have focused and specialized in my handcrafted wooden frames and that is what I love. Although, if you are looking for a local preservationist who does work with resin (and does it amazingly) look no further than Lindsey. She is an incredible human inside and out and I could not recommend her enough!
Not every day is a perfect day. Not every piece goes according to plan. I spent hours preserving, prepping, designing, and gluing this frame. I had it all cleaned and ready for framing. Then I decided to do one more quick check and CRACK! A slip of my tool and my day’s work was gone. I won’t lie - it was sad, disappointing, frustrating. I was also very concerned for the integrity of my client’s bouquet. I took a minute to regroup and cautiously removed and saved each bloom, grabbed a new piece of glass and started fresh. I gave myself grace for my mistake and started fresh. I appreciated the learning experience of the frailty of my mediums and started fresh. So yes - working with flowers does sound fun, and it is a lot of fun for me. But it is also a lot of meticulous work, and not every day is perfect. So we have grace, and begin again. 🤍

A naturally flat flower is generally more simple to press. For example these violas always turn out beautiful! But don’t let their beauty fool you - a lot of time and expertise was still needed to get these results. Checking the press daily at the start, changing the paper, and an incredibly delicate touch as these blooms become paper thin once pressed! Please don’t risk losing your special blooms to mold or browning, trust them with a preservation specialist who will get the best results for your flowers!
