You are cordially invited to attend a public event at Fleming College in partnership with Day of Pink International and their Stonewall 50 Across Canada Tour with Martin Boyce, one of the few remaining survivors of the Stonewall Riots of 1969. He will be sharing the story of one of the most pivotal queer/trans actions in history.

Tuesday, April 18th, 4 to 6 p.m.

Fleming College, 599 Brealey Drive

Whetung Theatre Room B3 100

The Stonewall Riots were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the gay community in response to a police raid that began in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. Patrons of the Stonewall, other Village 2SLGBTQ+ bars, and neighbourhood street people fought back when the police became violent. The riots are widely considered a watershed event that transformed the gay liberation movement and the twentieth-century fight for 2SLGBTQ+ rights in the United States and in Canada.

3 to 6 p.m. Information Tables and Exhibits on The History of Stonewall and the 2SLGBTQ+ Rights Movement in Canada, Noteworthy Trans/Non-binary Canadians.

4 to 6 p.m. Presentation and Q&A with special guest Martin Boyce, and performances by Betty Baker, Velma Bones, and Evangeline Gentle

Community partners are invited to display information on their services to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. To reserve a spot, please email me at [email protected] and provide the following information:
