Happy Taylor Swift in Toronto day! It’s the first of SIX concerts here in TO tonight. I will be avoiding Toronto for the next several days (Toronto traffic is crazy on a normal day lol) but I’m so excited for everyone attending tonight and all of the other nights! Can’t wait to see all the videos! Throwing it back to this custom set of TS cookies from the summer. Perfect for celebrating today!

Baking for the different seasons is one of my favourite things! I love them all but I definitely gravitate more towards the festive holidays in Fall and Winter. Baking spooky treats for Halloween and cozy treats for Christmas always puts me in a happy mood and helps me de-stress. What are your favourite seasons/holidays to bake for? And why?

Pausing Halloween content temporarily to share that there are only 15 WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! Because I’m always planning ahead I already have an idea of the Christmas cookies I want to make this year. This super elegant set was one of my favs and I think I want to do something similar. We’ll have these for sale this holiday season and can’t wait to share what we come up with! 🎄❄️

Soaking up the last few days of summer (although let’s be honest, you all know I’m just counting down the days until cozy sweaters, apple pie, hot chocolate, pumpkins and Halloween). Who else is excited for all of the fun Halloween and Autumn foods!!! Halloween is one of my favourite holidays to bake for and I LOVE making spooky food and treats. This weekend’s baby shower cake! Loved this cake so much. With five layers of lemon cake, and filled with lemon curd, cream cheese icing, and topped with a fluffy lemon buttercream, it’s a perfect Summer treat 🥰.

Sometimes you just need a huge basket full of freshly baked croissants (from scratch!). It’s currently pouring rain here in Southern Ontario and it’s starting to turn to snow (hello April in Canada). Our ceiling is leaking like crazy from a very poorly installed window. I have five buckets down to catch the water and I’m sitting here listening to the constant drip of water. Instead of spending the night stressing (which I will do tomorrow instead lol) I’m choosing to research new recipes, plan what I want to bake this week, and what I’m going to treat myself to tomorrow (helloooo birthday cake donut from .doughnuts…I’m coming for you 🎂). Sometimes the stress just isn’t worth it 😊.

Happy International Women’s Day to the best woman I know (and the other half of Sugarbird!), my amazingly incredible mom, Jennifer. The best baker, mom, grandma, dog-grandma, cook, puzzle maker and woman around. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for her, and you’ll never meet a kinder, sweeter person in your life. And if you’ve ever ordered cakes from us, odds are she’s the one who baked it. Nobody can beat her carrot cake 😉.

Happy Women’s Day Mom! Love you! And to all of the other incredible women out there, today we’re celebrating you as well 🥰.

This weekend’s gorgeous cake! Vanilla cake filled with white chocolate mousse and raspberry purée and topped with fluffy vanilla buttercream. And how gorgeous are these handmade rice paper sails!
