Thank you to everyone who came to The Port Holiday Market yesterday! What a great day it was. If you haven't had a chance to stop by yet, we are open 11-4 today.

Donations still being accepted for Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank and we are also selling tickets for our center Christmas tree with proceeds going to the Food Bank as well.

We’d like to thank everyone that came out last night to make the opening night of The Port Holiday Market a total success! It was a magical evening!

We are open from 10-5 today and 11-4 tomorrow.

Please stop by and visit One in Five while you’re at the Market today. This community initiative is so important as they help people access much needed mental health supports within the community.

Don’t forget, we are accepting monetary donations for The Fare Share Food Bank as well as selling tickets for our Center Christmas Tree with proceeds going directly back to the Food Bank.

In the spirit of the season, community is such an important part of giving this time of year. We are proud to present our next community initiative, the Northumberland Sleeping Cabin Collective.

Northumberland Sleeping Cabin Collective (NSCC) is a transitional cabin community fundraising to provide safe and secure living for those who are currently unsheltered.

The model sleeping cabin will be at the market tonight! Please come check it out!

It is a pragmatic, achievable and immediate solution to many members of our community who have been surviving in rough living conditions.

With only 4 days left on the countdown to The Port Holiday Market we are stoked to share our next vendor with you all! Today we welcome Oscar’s Tree Farm!

Established in approximately 2009, when the previous property owner planted the first tree seedlings, tending them meticulously.

In 2019, when the property was put up for sale, Oscar Marco saw potential for the beautiful land, and in December of 2019, Oscars Tree farm was born.

Growing each year, Oscar and his family have very much enjoyed the Christmas tree season. They have met wonderful people from all over. With planting new seedlings each year, they hope to continue to service their customers for years to come!

Our line features red pepper jelly, Chipotle Salsa, Amaretto Moonshine apple butter, and Gourmet Fat bread crackers just to name a few.

All of our treats are thoughtfully crafted by the FABULOUS Local Drag Queen Babe and his mother , Donna, using family recipes which have been passed down through several generations.

Cooking has always been a family passion and Babe used to spend hours in the kitchen with their mom and grandmother whipping up delicious treats.

9 Day! Only 9 days until The Port Holiday Market opens! Today we have a sweet tooth and are so happy to introduce Joy’s Cake and Sweets!

Joy’s Cake and Sweets is about a mother and a daughter who shares the passion of baking. They share not only their passion, but names as well. Both of them share the name “Joi” which is just a “unique” take on the common Joy.

Joi, the mother, got her inspiration to bake from her mom Josefina. Her mother studied baking. Growing up, Joi watched her mom bake goodies and she got more attracted to baking. After having her first child in 1988, Joi started baking desserts for a lot of clients for different occasions.

Joi, the daughter, also got inspiration to bake from her mom Joi. Seeing how her mom bakes sweet treats and cakes, she dreamt of becoming a Pastry Chef one day. After high school, she wasn’t able to pursue studying at a Pastry School since it costs a lot to do so. She decided to take Software Engineering instead. The love for baking never went away. So once she got her career steady, she then began taking Cake Decorating courses and Pastry Making courses. She has finished all Wilton Cake Decorating classes and she studied making pastries at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France and Ottawa, Canada.

Joy’s Cakes and Sweets mission is “to help others one cake at a time”. Portion of every sale is being donated to local and international missionaries that help those who are in need. So when clients buy from us, they are helping other people as well!

Stop by for some beautiful Christmas treats that make wonderful gifts this holiday for that special someone all while supporting great causes.

About The Artist

Helen Yang, born in 2005, loves drawing and painting and enjoys putting everything she loves into art!

Helen Yang started drawing at a very early age, as all children do. Even though some children change what they like when they get older, Helen seems to still really enjoy it. She loves animals, especially dogs and cats, and keeps drawing them almost every day.

Her drawing technique has improved naturally day by day, but the style is still in the children's way: simple and pure, humorous, and full of happiness.
Helen did her first illustration book project at age 12, 2017, and was published in July 2018.

A little story about business...

Twelve years old Helen Yang asks her Mom Chloe, to help to put her original designs to create handmade products on natural wood coasters, phone cases, enamel mugs, etc. to build up their own lifestyle brand in 2017. And officially launched the stationery line (Greeting Cards and Art Prints) in 2018.

Their designs are simple and pure, humorous, full of happiness, and very matching the natural materials they use, to give their products a unique, minimalist, and modern look.

Their products are made in a home-based studio, and printed out using ECO friendly ink and finished by hand.

12 days left until The Port Holiday Market! We’re getting so excited for what this year has to bring. Today we would love you to meet Michelle from Happy Bee Company.

Happy Bee Company is a small local apiary with a big mission. The apiary is located on a family farm and forest conservation area in beautiful Baltimore, Ontario. The farm and forest is proudly dedicated to being a pesticide free zone. The apiary is also home to a variety of botanicals that were strategically planted for their medicinal properties in supporting mental health.

Michelle is a local beekeeper, nutritionist, iridologist, and owner of Iris Therapeutics Holistic Wellness Studio in downtown Cobourg. She is incredibly passionate about natural medicine and educating her community on the benefits of locally grown food and botanicals. She was introduced to the beautiful world of beekeeping during the pandemic and instantly fell in love. She saw this as her opportunity to help create natural medicinal solutions for the community while promoting holistic wellness, regenerative agriculture, and wildlife preservation. She is passionately following in the footsteps of her grandparents who worked to engineer solutions for environmental problems that result from rapidly expanding population and industrialization.

Happy Bee Company will be offering local honey, honey infusions, beeswax candles, and floral bath potions to help the community be happy and relaxed this holiday season.

September (I was born in the month of September, champagne cheers to all the fellow Virgos) and Sky (Skies the limit baby).

The countdown is on! We are just 17 days away and today we would like to introduce Tim and Dean from Atelier on john.

Tim Badgley and Dean Howlett are the owners of Atelier on john in downtown Port Hope. They have been in business for 30 years and year after year they transform their store into a magical Christmas destination for Christmas decor.

During the rest of the year Tim and Dean offer an interior design service with a wonderful retail shop with furniture and home decor.

For those in the community who haven’t had the opportunity to visit Atelier on john, this is an up close and personal chance for you to meet the creators in person. Kerri Healey is a self-taught painter living in Port Hope. She is inspired by the simple beauty she sees in nature; a found nest, a tree branch, a fallen pine cone or a feather. She paints her detailed images on a stark white background, providing contrast and simplicity. Kerri likes to keep her art affordable, often using up-cycled canvases and reclaimed wood for framing.

Picture this - Outside…fresh-cut Christmas trees for sale by a local tree farm, Christmas tunes humming in the background getting you in the mood for the season while eating a sweet, warm treat from a locally delicious food truck. Top it off with meandering under a magically lit canopy; all the while being warmed by a fire.

Inside…you’ll find yourself lingering around the venue, cocktail in hand, being entertained by local carolers while visiting the best of local vendors ready to help you check off your entire holiday list. And if this wasn’t enough already, a naughty Mr. + Mrs. C will be around for you to snap pictures with while they tell you all of the shenanigans that have been happening at the North Pole.

Could any Friday night be better spent? We think not 🎄

I have to say a few words about Oliver Talent Events! Shannon (aka Oliver Klozoff) has such passion and drive for drag entertainment. She puts together the finest in local drag talent and always thinks about giving back. To this end, Shannon has partnered with the infamous Jacqueline Pennington Re/max Hallmark, one of the county’s most generous community sponsorship leaders (and realtors), to not only support a great evening of entertainment, but to offer a free child and family event during the day at The Port. Everyone gets to celebrate and participate in the years most spooky and indulgent tradition.

The Port is so grateful to partner with these two incredible women to off the community a great day and night on October 22nd 👻 🎃 💀
