Tamara Pelletier: From Healing Hands to Business Brilliance
Tamara Pelletier’s story is one of resilience, reinvention, and relentless determination. For over 20 years, she dedicated her life to nursing, stepping into the field straight out of school with a heart full of compassion and a deep desire to help others. She cared for patients, held hands in their darkest moments, and poured her soul into a career that defined her. But when the world changed in the wake of COVID-19, so did Tamara’s path. The exhaustion, the heartbreak, and the unrelenting weight of the frontline took its toll. It was time for something new—something bold.
That’s when she took a leap that many would have feared: she became a business owner. With zero business background, no formal training, and nothing but pure determination, Tamara purchased a small water shop in Quesnel, BC—Cariboo Water. She knew healthcare, not entrepreneurship. She had spent decades in scrubs, not in boardrooms. But that didn’t stop her. She taught herself everything—marketing, operations, finances, customer service, inventory management. She learned on the go, made mistakes, adapted, and kept pushing forward. And like everything she does, Tamara didn’t just make it work—she made it thrive.
At one point, a simple TikTok video of her young son at the shop went viral, capturing a moment of pure, everyday life. It was a reminder that in the midst of hard work and hustle, there are these small, beautiful moments that connect us all.
But Tamara is more than just a business success story. She’s a mother to five incredible kids. Five little (and not-so-little) humans who watch her every day, learning what it means to be strong, to be fearless, to chase dreams with everything they have. She juggles schedules, school drop-offs, bedtime stories, and boardroom decisions with the same unwavering energy. And through it all, she is kicking ass—proving that you can start over, that you can take risks, and that you can win, even when the odds aren’t in your favor.
Tamara’s journey is one of resilience, but it’s also one of collaboration. In January 2024, her good friend Candace Richter joined Cariboo Water as an equal partner. Candace, a former laundromat owner who had sold her business during COVID, brought her own entrepreneurial experience, business acumen, and determination to the table. Together, they have spent the past year growing Cariboo Water into something even greater—proving that when strong, driven women work together, there are no limits to what they can achieve.
This year, Tamara will be bringing her unstoppable spirit to the Northern Women’s Expo, where she’ll take the stage for an inspirational seminar. She’ll share her journey—the struggles, the triumphs, the doubts, and the moments that made it all worth it. She’ll speak to the women who feel stuck, the ones afraid to start, the mothers wondering if they can chase their dreams while raising their families.
And she’ll tell them the truth: You can.
Tamara Pelletier and Candace Richter are proof that you don’t need a degree in business to build an empire. You just need grit, resilience, and the courage to start.
