Wedding inquiries for 2025 have been rolling in so I thought I would share my intentions for the 2025 wedding season!

If you have been following this account for some time you know that I work as a social worker during the week. Flowers and wedding floral design are a passion and creative outlet for me.

Looking into 2025 I am going to be prioritizing a balance between my career in social work, floral design work, and of course our family. In order to do that I will be taking on limited weddings. It is always so hard to say no to inquiries, but I know this is what’s best for my family and myself!

With that being said, here is my current

We’re at that time in the season:

The season where the flower farm is bursting with flowers;
Weddings are in full swing;
We are trying to soak up every moment summer has to offer ☀️

This next week is my biggest wedding of the year, my babies first day of daycare, and a busy week for mama Jenny out at the flower farm.

All this to say I am in the same spot I am every year - with way too much content and not enough time to share it!

The last peony bouquet finally left my countertop yesterday. Peony season is so fleeting but I just love the few weeks when they are in bloom.

A few lessons we learned this year from our peony patch:

1) We need more peonies.

Literally that’s it - the more early, mid and late bloomers we get in the ground - the longer we can extended our u-pick peony season!

I cant wait to share a few more stunning photos from of the beautiful varieties we had this year 🤍

The photos deserved a more permanent place on my feed 🤍

Sometimes I get tired of white wedding florals - it can be challenging to make each bouquet unique. But when the photos come back and they blend seamlessly with the flowering trees… well now I‘be fallen in love with white wedding bouquets all over again ✨

Oh hey 👋🏼

It’s been another year since I’ve introduced myself - time is just moving so fast these days. I’ve been starting to get inquiries for 2025, so I thought I should share a bit about myself before wedding season gets going!

👉🏻 I’m Caitlin! Social Worker by day, Florist on the weekend! Floral design is my creative outlet and is a perfect balance to social work which can often be heavy work.

👉🏻 Daisy & Bird does not have a storefront - we cater to event florals, mostly for weddings! I love creating florals for weddings; I feel truly honoured to design arrangements for my amazing couples!

👉🏻 I am working on feeling confident in calling myself an artist. Imposter syndrome is real, but the more I design, the more I know that the work I create in floral design is living art ✨

👉🏻 My favourite place on earth is our family farm. Sharing the farm with the public through our U-Pick Flower Patch fills my heart every year. I am so so excited for all our plans to expand our space in the years to come.

👉🏻 I thrive on being busy - but I am known for taking on that one extra thing that pushes me over the edge to too much on my plate 🫠 Currently I am working on my Masters in Social Work which I started during my maternity leave… looking back would not recommend 😅

👉🏻 My family is my whole world. Everything I do is for them 🤍

Thank you for being here flower friends! I hope to see many of you at the flower field this summer!!

Wedding season is just around the corner…

I am starting to get excited about wedding season!!

My consultations for 2025 have come to a close, my proposals are finished, and I have started placing flower orders. I am most excited for some of the amazing colour palettes and designs we have this season, starting with some styled shoots and my first two weddings of the season in May!! It is going to be a great wedding season 🤩

Happy Birthday Mama Jenny 🥰

I may be biased but my mom is the most amazing human. She is one of the most giving people you will ever meet, and she works harder than anyone I know. She single handedly started every single flower at the farm from seed, and did all the work from seeding, watering, planting, weeding, and tractor work to make the flower farm experience a reality. All while working as a physician in our community.

I will never be able to repay her for all the love, support and encouragement over the years. Being able to run Daisy & Bird with her as a mother daughter duo is a gift I will always cherish.

Thank you for coming out to support my moms passion project - it means the world to her, which makes it mean the world for me ✨

Happy Birthday Mom 🥹

Florist Trend Friday: Bud-vase Seating Chart

As a florist I am always trying to help my couples get the best bang for their buck, and the best way to do that is with florals pieces that have multiple purposes. One way to do that is with a bud-vase seating chart! This has 3 amazing purposes:

1. A creative and eye catching seating chart;

2. Decor for your tables! 3-6 bud-vases on your round or rectangle table adds incredible colour, texture and interest;

3. A wedding favor! Purchase the bud-vases and send them home with your guests - they get something unique and a a high quality bloom to enjoy at home for a few days!

Let me know your thoughts on a bud-vase seating chart below!

This Saturday mama Jenny and I got to host 7 other local flower farmers for an afternoon of community and relationship building. I just wish we had gotten a photo of all the smiling faces (a goal for next time!).

Check out my local flower farm highlight or the links below to all the amazing local flower farmers in the YQR and surrounding area! We can’t wait to have you out to our U-Pick flower farm this summer, but hope you will also check out and support these amazing ladies and their offerings as well!

If you are a local flower farmer that we somehow missed - send me a dm as we would love to connect you to this community! And no matter what hobby/passion/side hustle/ biz you are interested in, know that there is ALWAYS room at the table for you - you just have to find the right table ✨

If you haven’t had a chance to meet this lovely lady let me tell you - you are missing out!

A super big congratulations to my bestest flower friend on her top 3 finalist / nomination for the Paragon Awards! Payton you work your buns off and put your heart and soul into all that you do. I am so glad you took a chance and reached out to meet up almost 2 years ago!! I love getting to learn from each other, share our flower faux pas, and laugh together when things go a little sideways 🙃

This is why community over competition always - there is always enough room for us all, and you will meet the most amazing people along the way!

Thanks for capturing the flower friends!!

Last day of March musings…

I’m sitting in bed feeling a little bit disheveled. The laundry isnt put away, we have a room full of baby stuff that needs to be organized, I lost all my reel drafts in a phone transfer so I didn’t get a reel created/ posted today, and I have not washed my hair in 3 days 🤷🏼‍♀️. But, I did really love ’s suggestion to share highlights for March and goals for April:

- I am really proud of myself for showing up on this platform a bit more consistently this month! Even posting today is progress. It is definitely one of my goals to continue this in April, while also being gentle with myself when my plans are shot to hell!

- I am so excited to be planning something beautiful with some other local vendors, hopefully to share in May! Getting to create with flowers again has me incredibly excited, and I am so excited to start planning next month 🤗

- The biggest highlight of this month has been my time with our little guy. It hasn’t been easy, and there are times I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing, but he was the number one focus this month, as he likely will be for a very long time! My goal for April is to do my best to be fully present, knowing that all the little moments, the contact naps, the comfort bounces and the biggest baby smiles won’t be here forever 🤍

Can’t wait to see what April has in store ✨

It’s national puppy day, so obviously we have to share Bentley, who stole the show at Julie and Dylan’s ceremony!

I love seeing pets at weddings! Cam and I also had our pup Luna at ours, although Luna was not dressed nearly as dapper as Bentley 😂

I am hopeful that this little guy will be a big brother any day now!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I was going to make this post yesterday for St. Patrick’s Day ☘️but Linc has other plans for our day 😅

I want to highlight some amazing greenery that we grow on the farm. Greenery is often seen as a filler, but it really can be a feature of its own!

These photos show Saskatchewan grown Eucalyptus, Bells of Ireland and Mint, but we also have greenery from our raspberry bushes and multiple varieties of Basil!

Do you have a favourite type of greenery? Let me know below! 🌿👇🏻🍀

Repurposing florals…

talk to your florist about how your arrangements can be repurposed throughout your wedding day. Julie’s wedding is a perfect example of how this can be done! Swipe through these photos to see how three different floral elements were used during the ceremony, formal photos, and reception:

wine barrel arrangements —> were repurposed on the stage / in front of the head table

the arch —> even though the arch could not be transported to the reception, it was the focal point for the ceremony and used for family photos and photos with the bridal party

bouquets —> used for their intended purpose and then placed on the head table for the reception

When I look out the window and see all the snow it’s hard to believe we are less than 12 weeks away from last frost!

We are in full swing of planting, and will soon be using our greenhouses. This is one of two greenhouses we have on the farm. This underground greenhouse has some really unique features:

➡️ this greenhouse was constructed on an old house foundation, allowing it to be built into the ground which supports with heat retention

➡️ it is well insulated on three side and has large water totes that collect heat from the sun during the day and release it at night. There is also a fireplace fuelled by wood from old trees cut on the farm. Duct work and fans circulate the heat that rises down to the floor level to maintain a consistent temperature throughout.

➡️ a fire can be stoked in the evening to keep the greenhouse toasty all night when temperature are dropping too low for the seedlings

➡️ the cover on the roof, purposefully slanted for maximum sun/ heat exposure can be rolled up or down as another tool to support with heat retention

➡️ it was built mostly with recycled materials!

We can’t wait to be using our greenhouse in a few short weeks - now just for this snow to melt!

Nothing fills my heart more than couples that take the time to send me a message after their wedding!

While I love updates about how the florals added to the day, they are just one small piece! I am a sucker for any and all updates about the magic of your wedding day!

If you are getting married, make a note to send a thank you card to vendors that added to your day - you warm their hearts and put a smile on their face!
