Planning a wedding is more than choosing tablecloths and florals. It involves managing PEOPLE. It means getting everyone on the same page — to execute your big day, exactly as you dreamed it — and that can be one of the trickiest parts. Did we collectively forget that people go to school to learn how to manage people?! Planning a wedding basically requires HR expertise. You have to…

🌷 Make sure your transportation actually shows at the right time.

🌷 Align photographers and videographers with the exact moments you want to capture.

🌷 Keep track of catering and which food is coming out when.

🌷 Herd large groups of people from standing around to seated at the ceremony.

🌷 Cue your MC for the announcement of your grand entrance.

…And the list goes on. 🙃 But luckily, these are many of the things your wedding coordinator (and people-manager extraordinaire) will handle for you. Including shouting at Uncle Jerry to sit down, and telling mom’s friend Linda to keep her iPad out of your photographer’s way.

What should you do if you and your partner can’t agree on a major wedding-related decision? 🙃
This can be so stressful, and it looks SO different in every circumstance — but don’t spiral, it just means you’re both humans, dealing with a day that has so much emotion (and expectation) tied into it.

Consider this food-for-thought:

🤍 Come up with a third option that feels good to both of you. You know, that whole ‘compromise' thing people are always talking about.

🤍 Give and take. Your partner may get to choose the DJ, but you get the red velvet cake you’re dreaming of.

🤍 Bring your wedding planner on board as a tie-breaker. We can guide you towards the right decision based on tried-and-true expertise, knowing what works best.

🤍 Flip a coin. Because there are so many meaningful decisions to make, you don’t have time to get caught up on every little one.

Just sprinkling in a photo of a stunning arch to your feed. Here’s some real truth behind this though…

Sometimes, one of the decisions that lands on your coordinator is a slightly unfortunate one such as this; I had to make the hard decision to pull the arch draping due to the wind. I actually hate to share this, and even more, was disappointed that we had to tell our bride before she walked down the aisle that it’s "a little different;” but it’s transparent, real, and one of the decisions you can count on me to make. Just imagine the drapery flying above your wedding party’s heads in photos… 🫣

The upside of this, you’d never know we were missing anything with these stunner florals! 😍 .. they’re a part of why this decision was just a little bit easier to make.

These two embraced a ton of the 2023 trends, one being an audio guestbook! 📞✨

What could be cuter than hearing your guests’ messages in their own voice?! Audio guestbooks are portable vintage phones that can be passed around as guests record their well wishes… and you’ll pick up the funniest memories, too! 🙊 There are a few companies that offer a pre-made version, or you can do it DIY style with a thrifted phone and recording device. Are we loving this trend?!

I say this with love: stop wearing all the hats. 🤗If you’re the type who takes the reins on everything, who feels like you need to show up and be there for everybody, who tries to add one more task into their day, even though you’re already barely getting enough sleep at night… this one’s for you.

It’s okay to prioritize your time, your space, your happiness. It’s okay to outsource, delegate, trust your vision in someone else’s hands. 🤍

It’s okay to sit back and enjoy the wedding planning process, minus all the stress and late nights. It’s okay (beautiful, actually) to hand it off to the experts, and just soak in every moment of being a fiancé.

I hate to break it to you, but something IS going to go wrong or not according to plan on your wedding day. 👀 It’s just how it goes, and it happens to everyone. There are so many people, places and things to keep track of, it can’t *all* go according to plan. And that’s okay!

As a wedding planner, a major part of my job is to handle all those little issues that come up, and take care of everything that has potential for disaster… before you even notice. And I might not ever tell you about it. 😉

So, those people that claim nothing went wrong on their wedding day? I’ll let you in on the secret: they probably had a planner behind the scenes! 🤫

Should you use a wedding hashtag? #️⃣ They are a SUPER convenient way to gather your guests’ photos, experiences and memories into one scrollable, digital memory book for the day after — and they’re a fun phrase to display on your signage. But as IG evolves (always changing our favourite things, am I right?), the wedding hashtag isn’t as helpful as it used to be. As many of us move from feed posts to *only* updating our stories, many of the beautiful wedding memories will disappear after 24 hours. The wedding hashtag is still useful, but you might want to schedule a morning-after hour to scroll through the memories with your new spouse, before the expiry date hits. On the upside, it sounds like a beautiful thing to share over breakfast. 🖤
