It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Lynne Lapchuk announces her death on August 18, 2024, at the age of 78 years old. A come and go celebration of Lynne’s life will be held for family and friends on August 24, 2024, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at 30 Dewar Bay, Regina, SK. See photos for the full obituary.

Bandura player, Iryna Levchenko, fled Ukraine in 2022. She left behind a 20 year professional career with the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments. Since moving to Moose Jaw, she has received a restored bandura and will be giving a concert on May 18, 6 pm, at Zion United Church in Moose Jaw. 🇺🇦🎶

The Regina AUUC and Poltava Ensemble wish to extend our deep condolences to the family of Doreen Wood, who passed away on March 3, 2024. Throughout the years, Doreen was a participant and volunteer in many of the Regina AUUC activities and her two children Patti and Garry Dubasov were dancers in the AUUC Poltava Ensemble. Doreen is remembered as a very kind and generous woman whose amazing skills as a Poltava seamstress are still evident in today’s Poltava wardrobe.

His kind presence, welcoming nature and passion for dance will be sorely missed. His spirit will always be with us and on our stage. We love you Justin.

Last night we took the stage in the mountain town of Manzaneda. While this region boasts a ski resort in the winter, the heat stayed strong on and off the stage. Check out some footage from our first set!

The finale of Folkmoncao was a spectacle all its own. There wasn’t a spot to be found as over 10,000 people took in the closing gala. We lead with Zakarpatskiy Krucheniy followed by Gypsy Dance, a dance the people of Portugal hadn’t seen in all our visits! As our chapter in Portugal closes, we are incredibly thankful for all the guides, volunteers and friends we have made over the last 10 days. On to Spain!
The energy of the crowd (and our outstanding orchestra) propelled us to deliver one of our all time “the show must go on” moments! Professionalism & commitment to performance were on another level !
Another night, another incredible performance. Ponte Du Barca provided yet another beautiful backdrop & the nations of Mexico, Bolivia, South Africa and Ukraine brought the crowd to their feet.
Picturesque Ponte De Lima, the city with the most beautiful bridge & amazing walk up crowd. Thank you for once again having us alongside South Africa, Bolivia & Tahiti!
What a day for a parade! We took the the streets of Moncao ahead of the tonight’s performance in Pont De Lima!
Show 4 was in from the packed streets of Vila Nova De Cerveira! So full on fact our view was that of the fans of Poltava @folkmoncao Folkmoncao!
📍Coura Portugal - Night 3 Even a 15 minute rain delay could not slow down Poltava 🇺🇦 and Folkmoncao. Sharing the stage with Bolivia, Argentina & Haiti was a delight in our return to the city where we made our @folkmoncao debut!
About last night….Gala Opening Night @folkmoncao 💙🇵🇹💛 We were honoured to close an amazing show of culture and skill. We felt the love from the crowd of over 5000 & can’t wait to do entertain more as we continue the tour!
