Bye-eeeee! That’s right! Im putting the camera down (literally… I’m not even bringing it with me which is giving me some very awkward feels…) and I’m leaving on a jet plane! And while I THINK I’ll be back again on the 26th, we’ll see if Air Canada and its pilots have other ideas with the strike looming! Either way, have a fabulous two weeks everyone!

You guys! I am so excited as I’ve started to receive some product for one of my clients - this album with its gorgeous display box and a metal print in a metal brushed float mount! They’re to die for!!! Don’t tell my client though, I want it to be a surprise! 😉😍

My baby… maybe she is my last dog, reincarnated. As she is beautiful. But she does NOT like to pose for the camera. I was glad to get these shots of her in our backyard today, she was not happy though as we wouldn’t let her roam freely to hide under the deck or else she would be out chasing bugs all night!

A more recent session, with Sara, we started out in studio then moved into a muggy evening in Wascana Park. Thankfully with the sun dipping down behind the trees, we powered through and didn’t pass out from the heat!

Another day, another family! This one actually takes us back to mid June - we’d wanted to do outdoors but ended up having a big storm that evening so we wound up shooting in studio. Either way, I was glad that I have a studio space to use as the K family doesn’t all live here in the city and we had limited days to make it happen!

Last week we went up to Prince Albert for a family affair, and while we were there stopped in for a visit (and family portraits!) of our friends Jeff and Natalie. I met these two back in 1999 when I did my single, very misguided, year of education as Natalie and I were both in the BAC program thinking we would be teaching French Immersion.

As it happened, I realized I am in no way cut out to be a teacher, they have to deal with far more crap than they should have to, and the rest is history. While Natalie plugged on and now teaches in PA, Jeff at the time became an EMS and from there decided to become a firefighter. He is also one of the directors of the River Valley Resilience Retreat, which aims to help Public Safety Personnel who have PTSD from their experiences in the field.

We had fun with the photos on their beautiful property West of Prince Albert. I’ll be posting more once I’ve had a chance to go through them, but just wanted to get one up as I’m quite happy with it!

A few weeks ago I got to work with the Wong Family, many travelling in from far and wide to celebrate their grandma and grandpa’s *70th* wedding anniversary! Talk about being in it to win it! And despite the number of people, the family was a dream to work with - all very pleasant, friendly and helpful too!

So last year I promised myself that this year I would increase my pup portrait work to be at least 40% of the work I do! Annnnd then my life kind of fell apart for several months. So I was very happy last night when I finally got out to photograph these two little darlings, Chewie and Ellie. I wanted to share some untouched previews of these little sweethearts ❤️ .g99

As usual I have fallen behind on posting client work, which I hope to remedy this week. But in the meantime, this is what I get to see when I get up these days. The Moopsy, snoozing’ in her little beam of sunlight, starched out on her little blanket. She looks innocent, but be warned, she will bite you.

Once again, I need to start posting more client work. But for now, this is what I often see when getting up these days, The Moopsy stretched out on her little blanket, in the sun if she can. She always looks so sweet and innocent when she’s sleeping. And yet, she will bite you.

I realize I’ve been remiss in posting lately, but went for a walk early this afternoon and stumbled on this beautiful batch of tiger lilies. They brightened my day, I thought maybe they’d brighten your day too ❤️

Adam was in studio a couple of months ago. We’d started off with a white background but given his red hair, I suggested we use my favourite backdrop, the blue, so he’d really pop, and I think it worked very well!

While sometimes in studio and simple is the way to go, my friend Tanya contacted me needing images to promote an organ concert she’s giving on June 9th - we decided to do the shoot at Knox-Metropolitan along with the organ to highlight what kind of music the audience will be treated to!

A shot from this afternoon with my business partner for our program. Sadly this is the last Twelfth Year season that we’ll have for a while now. As our careers have grown, we do not have as much time to dedicate to our wonderful students. And as much as we are quite sad that we had to make the call, we also know it’s the right one. We will still be providing kick-ass grad portrait experiences, but just in a different form/fashion.

Much love to all our students. You have shown us that there is still hope in the world, and that is why I chose to post this photo in particular, reminding myself that despite the (personal) trials and tribulations of the past few years, there is always hope. Don’t cry that it’s over, smile because it happened.

Back to grads and families, when getting portraits done for any reason, it’s always good to see what other services your photographer can provide. You may recall my posting business headshots of Marcia way back, well as it happened her eldest was graduating last year, and she’d commented (as many do) that the last time they’d had family portraits done was when the boys were just little. Graduation is always a great time to have portraits done as you often have extended family around to celebrate with you, and what a better time to show how much you’ve all changed and grown!

And how about the adorable Tara? As it turns out, Tara and I had actually met before back when my dad had still been the organist at St Mary’s church. I’d stopped attending many years ago, but she had recalled that I was a photographer and looked me up. We had fun chatting as we were shooting and as many of my clients say “I don’t like being in front of a camera”, I think I successfully got her to relax a bit ☺️

Back to business shots, a few months ago, I had Evan come into the studio. As a financial planner, we were trying to go for profesh (of course) but as finances tend to be scary for some people (I mean, I’m not talking about myself, personally… I mean, I’m very good with numbers… and monies… and I most definitely NEVER feel overwhelmed by them at all LOOKOVERTHERE!…) so we were also trying to make a point to be warm and approachable. A good financial advisor will pay for themselves and not bully you into things that are uncomfortable or that you really don’t understand, they are there to help you make the most of your hard earned money!

Did I mention that grad season is almost here?? Here’s a few images from Jadyn’s session last summer. A competitive runner, she was very excited to be heading to the CalTech on scholarship! You could see how proud her dad, Jeff, was to see her succeeding, as were her grandparents (and puppies!) as he was beaming through the whole shoot! We were given permission to shoot at Douglas Park Track and had a great time showing off Jadyn in a place she’d come to know as a second home. I’m always so envious of the grads I work with, on the precipice of the next step with so many avenues about to open up for them.

Henry, another business headshot client, came to me not long after we’d moved in at 599 Henderson Drive, newer to Regina and while he needed something with a very plain background, also was open to trying for another shot with something with more texture.
