The Shepody Food Bank is looking to add to our volunteer list! This is a great way to give back to our community. Come work in our cheerful, low-stress environment. You can sign up for whatever amount of time fits your schedule. Jobs include:

Monday mornings from 9 to 11am. Volunteers work together to restock shelves, divide large bags of various items, pack bags for school children, among other things.

Wednesday mornings from 9 to 11am. Volunteers are needed to unload our delivery from the Food Depot Alimentaire, unpack boxes, refrigerate and repack perishable items as needed, etc.

Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 3pm. Volunteers work together to pack food boxes for clients. Packing lists are provided, and more experienced volunteers are there to help train new volunteers.

The Shepody Food Bank would like to thank you, our community, on behalf of the clients and the Board of Directors for your part in helping us support individuals and families residing in southern Albert County (from the Upper Albert Mines Road down to Alma and Caledonia Mountain Rd. from hwy #114 to the #910). Thanks to those of you who have made food and/or monetary donations. Many thanks also to our team of cheerful, dedicated volunteers who help keep the food bank running smoothly. Contact us if you would like to join our team of volunteers!

We are filled with gratitude for the ongoing generous support of individuals and local organizations. We have just experienced our highest use ever in the last two months. As the cost of groceries and other necessities increases, we expect this trend will continue. In October we provided the equivalent of about 3000 meals. Our monthly average is about 2400 meals (up from about 2100 per month last year).

In addition to supporting individuals and families in our community, the Shepody Food Bank continues to support students at Riverside Consolidated School through their breakfast and other programs. We also continue to provide assistance in distributing Christmas food hampers.

The Shepody Food Bank has just experienced some of our highest usage rates ever in the past two months. With the price of groceries, we expect this trend will continue. Albert County Christmas Aid

Phone lines for the Albert County Christmas Aid will be open from Tuesday, November 12th to Friday, November 29th Monday to Friday between the hours of 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Please call 386-1771 to register your family. Have Medicare numbers for all those in the family registering available when you call. For those wishing to visit Headstart Toyland, registration will be done online starting on November 18 for a limited time. Toyland will operate from December 4th to December 19th.

Only one family per address can be registered. You can not register for another family.
