Registration is open for the Makana Youth Choirs fall term! Directed by Caroni Young, Makana is the place for young singers to develop healthy singing habits, learn musical literary skills, and put on a fabulous end-of-term concert at ArtSpring on Sunday, November 22. All while having fun with friends!

𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 is a fun introduction to choral music and singing technique for singers in grades 2-5. Students will learn ensemble skills through a repertoire from folk to pop and classical.

Rehearsals: Fridays 3:30pm-4:30pm, Sept 18-November 20

𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 is a continuation and enrichment of the younger choir, for singers in grades 6-9. Students focus on learning to sing in harmony and continuing to develop their vocal skills. More emphasis is placed on musical literacy and developing understanding and music notation.

Rehearsals: Fridays 4:30pm-5:30pm, Sept 18- November 20

It's launch day! Come down to ArtSpring today from 4-6pm to get your sneak peak of what's in store for ArtSpring Presents 2026-27.

This season has something for everyone - whether you're looking for family fun, international stars in an intimate venue, or theatre that moves you.

Hear from our artistic programmer, Howard Jang, to learn how this season came together, and discover what your 'must-sees' of the season will be.

There'll also be music, the incredible Photosynthesis photography exhibition, and the chance to contemplate ArtSpring's new installation by Shannon Wardroper. If you've not yet renewed your membership you can do that too!

One of the most exciting weeks in the ArtSpring calendar is nearly here... LAUNCH WEEK 🥳

You're invited to join us for a mesmerizing, free 'Rough Cut' this Friday.

-Imagine getting to experience an intimate, technically challenging, yet developmental, performance by two incredible musicians.

-Imagine the opportunity to hear from the artists about their creative development process, whilst they’re still immersed in it.

-Imagine the chance to help those artists develop further, through conversation and questions.

Rachel Fenlon and Edwin Huizinga are coming to the end of a week-long creative residency as they look to build out their creative work, together and as solo artists.

Rachel, who has family ties to Salt Spring, is an internationally-acclaimed soprano and pianist known for self-accompanied song recitals.

Edwin Huizinga is an artist, composer, improviser, educator, and artistic director whose work is rooted in connection. Moving freely between Baroque, folk, contemporary music, improvisation, and indie rock, he is drawn to the spaces where musical traditions meet—and to the human connections that make those encounters meaningful.

Those of us who have heard this develop through the week have been enthralled - this promises to be a special way to enjoy an hour on a Friday afternoon.
