Gustin House

Gustin House Music and the arts! Annual concert series featuring international and local artists. Join us!

The activity of Gustin House is inspired by the brilliant piano teacher Dr. Lyell Gustin (1895-1988), who moved from Quebec to Saskatchewan at age 17, already an award winning pianist. In his Saskatoon studio, he mentored and inspired hundreds of young musicians during his 70-year career. Today, a non-profit charity based in his restored home/studio continues his ideals: Gustin/Trounce Heritage Co

mmittee Inc. presents musical and cultural events, gives piano scholarships, and also maintains Gustin House, a Provincial Heritage Property.

Here are some photos from our Duo Concertante recital. The audience responses have been pouring in. Here are a few of the comments we received:

Fabulous ... my favourite was Ravel, in fact I came for that but was swept away by the whole thing!"
"Incredible artists, what a lovely and varied program!"
"I found the Ramirez absolutely intriguing, imaginative."
"the slow movement of the Beethoven made me hold my breath over and over, it so captivated me ... and I can hear it still"
"the violinist, beautiful technicality, and the pianist, a local-done-so-good, what a model for my students!"
"I'd never heard of Amanda Maier––fantastic talent in a young female composer of her day, and a gorgeous performance"
"cool movement, Ravel's Blues: I've hardly ever heard it played, and loved it"
"amazing ensemble playing!".. “I'm so glad I came, spirit uplifted. “

We are so sorry that we've had to postpone our Gustin House event for today, Sunday, Nov. 24th.

We are grateful that along with the West Central SRMTA--we could make changes early enough so that our Winnipeg-based pianist Everett Hopfner could stay safely home. Watch for a future date for his recital at Gustin House!
