Gustin House

Gustin House Music and the arts! Annual concert series featuring international and local artists. Join us!

The activity of Gustin House is inspired by the brilliant piano teacher Dr. Lyell Gustin (1895-1988), who moved from Quebec to Saskatchewan at age 17, already an award winning pianist. In his Saskatoon studio, he mentored and inspired hundreds of young musicians during his 70-year career. Today, a non-profit charity based in his restored home/studio continues his ideals: Gustin/Trounce Heritage Co

mmittee Inc. presents musical and cultural events, gives piano scholarships, and also maintains Gustin House, a Provincial Heritage Property.

Congratulations to Kevin Chen, winner of the silver medal in the 19th International Frederyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw! Kevin's brilliant performances stood out early among an initial application pool of hundreds of pianists from around the world–and, after multiple rounds starting with 84 participants–among the 11 finalists.

The Lyell Gustin Recital Series had the great pleasure of presenting this fantastic young star in a memorable performance on March 25, 2025.

The Competition, one of the oldest and most prestigious in the piano world, takes place every five years in Poland around the date of Chopin's death, October 17.

We are rooting for you too Kevin!
