A message for those on their healing journey 💕

A message for those on their healing journey 💕

A year ago I attended a retreat overseas that focused on healing developmental trauma. At the time I was suffering a lot physically. I had pain in my legs that made it difficult to do even simple physical activity, causing me to become depressed most of the year. I knew I needed to attend this specific retreat because it focused on healing using various Somatic Experiencing techniques. For almost 2 years prior, I had switched from traditional counselling (talk therapy) to Somatic Experiencing sessions. These sessions were life changing and helped me to deal with a lot of unhealed trauma.

I released so much during the retreat that by the time I returned home, most of the pain in my legs subsided. The pain that remained was healed through some intense physiotherapy sessions and doing the recommended exercises. The pain last year forced me to slow down and rest, something I hadn’t done in years. It forced me to try new things and challenged me to be more intentional with self-care practices. I’m sharing this personal story to let you know that healing is a difficult but rewarding journey. At times it’s physically painful and exhausting, but we have to keep going. Don’t ever make giving up (on yourself) an option because you are worthy of a good life. 💕

Thank you for reading. 💜
