Every weekend is a new adventure, despite us bringing the tools of the trade .... we never know what type of bar setting awaits us upon arrival. Let's talk about beer shall we?
What kind of beer should "you" have on hand for your special day?

The answer is "Ask your guests" just like when you ask them what dietary restrictions they have for dinner. or if they have a song request for the band or DJ or if they need you to confirm a room booking...maybe give them some options or a blank line that says "What kind of beer would you like on hand": _____________ blank line for brand, or ask if they prefer a pale ale, a lager or something heavy.

Lucky, Bud Light, Budweiser, Molson Canadian are all easy options but also supporting a local Island brewer is popular too!!! Phillips, Vancouver Island Brewery, Hoyne all make some really popular choices too!!!

We are getting asked if we do other things besides weddings lately.....
The quick answer is YES! we do, having a Halloween event? Having a Christmas function? Having an office get together? Having a birthday party? Did you know Nicole is Serving it right certified? And what does that mean you may ask:

Serving It Right is British Columbia’s responsible liquor sales and service program for industry workers, that everyone involved in the sale and service of liquor has to take. It is designed to help make sure that the service and sale of liquor is done according to law and in a way that keeps customers, guests and others safe from alcohol-related harms. Other provinces have similar responsible liquor service programs.

The course provides effective techniques to prevent problems related to the service of liquor and covers topics such as:

Signs of intoxication

Legal liability

Reducing alcohol over-consumption

Reducing impaired driving

Reducing the risk of violence

Preventing the sale of alcohol to a minor

Duty of care on and off premises, and

The necessity to create and enforce responsible beverage service policies

Responsible beverage service does not end with SIR certification.

Skills can only be developed through practice and work experience.
Therefore, further training is strongly encouraged to build upon the fundamental knowledge acquired through this course.

Warm weather is coming...........

MOOOOOOOOO SUN!!!! Means MOJJJJJJJITTTTTTOOOOOS!!!!

Mojito is a traditional Cuban punch. The cocktail often consists of five ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint. Its combination of sweetness, citrus, and herbaceous mint flavors is intended to complement the rum, and has made the mojito a popular summer drink.

Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz White rum, 1 oz Fresh lime juice, 2 teaspoons Sugar, 6 leaves of Mint, Soda Water..........nice mint leaf garnish ;)

Preparation: Mint sprigs muddled with sugar and lime juice. Rum added and topped with soda water. Garnished with sprig of mint leaves. Served with a straw. Well at least that is how Nicole does it!

Tequila anyone?

The drink that ruins mornings..........but can create some epic memories!!!! No longer just the drink in Mexico, tequila is running rampant again and with celebs like The Rock, Clooney and more endorsing this savage concoction its safe to say its gotta be behind the bar.

And of course it is the #1 drink when someone yells
" SHOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSS!"

Alongside rum, Tequila is the other spirit predicted to flourish, as exports hit a record last year. Consumers are predicted to choose high-quality bottles, meanwhile celebrities will continue to promote their own Tequila brands. Cocktails incorporating the spirit will also thrive, as the Spicy Margarita remains in demand.

Oldy but a goodie................want to enjoy libations "but" also make it to the end of the wedding? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

JAEGER BOMB TIME!!!

Very popular at the bar, you will often see groups of people drinking Jäger bombs together. You will either love it or hate it; there's not much middle ground with this potent shot. One thing that is certain is that it's a drink every bartender should know. It requires no mixing and it's so easy that anyone can make it.

Jägermeister is a strong liqueur with a slight anise taste. The alcohol's "depressant" effects are offset by the energy drink Red Bull that the shot is dropped into, which can definitely help keep the party going. However, this is not a shot for the faint of heart, and it's very easy to have one too many without realizing it. The best advice: Take it easy on the Jäger bombs.

This past Sunday I got to do a "First"! As a guest of the popular Vancouver Island Award Winning DJ PTK I had a small table at the 10th anniversary of The Modern Wedding Show....my first time actually out promoting my little bartending service.

The professionalism of the show was surreal, so many of the Islands top Wedding and event vendors on hand working with couples. The show was sponsored by some of the Islands biggest guns in Beauty Bride Jennings the Florist and of course DJ PTK and showcased 70+ more industry pros from planners to caterers and florists to limos!

I got to speak with potential clients and actually meet some of my actual clients face to face too! As Island Life Bartending Services Ltd. Takes off I look forward to more firsts!!!

2022 was the year of the Moscow Mule!!!!

1 1/2 oz Vodka, 1/6 oz Lime juice, 4 oz Ginger beer and let the good times roll!!! And if you have copper cups, let the good times roll even harder!!!!
