"Tie the knot" is an old wedding adage coming from Celtic roots in a ritual known as handfasting.

But the Japanese practice of Sh***ri brings a whole new level of bonding between partners with the intertwining knots that secure a steadfast hold.

What's the difference?

Yesterday, I touched on what an eloping is!

Let's recap - an eloping is a SECRET wedding with no guests, no budget, and no frills but all of the intimacy and romance.

A micro wedding - before i begin, as an officiant who writes ceremony for a living, I am a stickler for language.

Micro wedding is an industry term for small wedding. But what does that mean?
Usually fewer guests, but that doesn't always translate to less cost!

As a whole, a micro wedding still has guests, flowers, fancy dresses, fancy food, and people to cater to.

In my experience, budget micro weddings are best suited to a home wedding, a dozen guests and a byob rule! This allows you to skip the cost of venues and extra fluffy stuff that can be very pricey.

Many venues have minimums for guests and food that often go far over what a micro wedding would be in terms of budget!

As a ceremonialist , a micro wedding does not change the ceremony part. 2 guests or 200, writing a ceremony remains the same!

Micro weddings do offer more intimacy with your supportive loved ones and give you the chance to actually enjoy your guests as well as celebrate with them. Whereas a big wedding can mean not getting to talk to many of the people who came out to support your love.

Dont get pulled into the hype - study these packages you see branded and Micro wedding, often its not any cheaper.

What is eloping? Everyone gets it wrong!🫠

This family trio here had a true elopment!

They had been hard working on life and didnt want the big celebration in lieu of other things they wanted to pursue.

An elopement is a secret wedding.. there are no guests (with the exception of your 2 legal witnesses), there's no cake or photographer.
Just you, the one you love, 2 witnesses and an officiant. (Talk about budget friendly, and you can still get flowers and a cake for just you 2!)

What I loved about this couple was they called me up, told me what they wanted, asked how to do it, and they did it!
They told no one until it was done and they lived happily ever after without the stress, hassle and cost that a big celebration can be.
(And they brought their cute baby!)

Eloping doesn't have to be without ceremony either.. infact id even say the ceremony really becomes what it's meant to be! - a moment frozen in time, marking the two at a soul level and claiming their commitment in the most intimate setting possible.

And that's what ceremony is - with or without guests.

It marks your life at the feat of humanity - in your consciousness, your emotions, and your heart.

Eloping is as beautiful and romantic as the whitest dress and biggest venue.

My top 3 tips on how yo7u should choose your wedding officiant. 1 - call, dont email. You meed to be sure you like this person enough to invite to your wedding! 2 - dont just ask for the price, learn about the services and what the officiant does with and for you. 3 - know your priorities in your budget!
