Congratulations to the Young Family on 50 Years in Business! Back in 1975, after a successfully leasing and operating the Huntington Golf & Country Club, Sam and Mary purchased the 9-Hole Shelburne Golf & Country Club. In 1990, Sam put his creativity and years on Tour to work and designed an 18-hole concept. With his backhoe and a team of professionals, he went to work and opened up the 18 hole Course for play in August of 1992. But did you ever wonder where Sam's love of golf came from? It was his father, an avid golfer. Across the pond in Scotland where Sam was born, his father Robert (Bert) Young played at and helped maintain the grounds at the near Kincardine, Scotland. In a very old picture in this reel, Robert can be seen alongside his golf buddies. (Seated, second from right).
The foundations of excellence, hard work and perseverance needed to stay in Business for 50 years have been carried on and will continue to do so for many years to come.
