Throwback to the third and final project we concluded in 2023: Torpy Lodge! Topy was a 42-bed remote land-based workforce housing facility that supported logging operations east of Prince George. The turnkey-project included camp construction and installation, catering and hospitality services, site-maintenance services, as well as site demobilization. Shoutout to Tasu Construction for construction support!

In November we wrapped up a successful third and final season of supplying catering and hospitality services at Black Diamond’s Mount Merrick Lodge. The 304-bed lodge, located just south of Chetwynd, BC, provided an efficient and effective accommodation service to workers on the Costal GasLink Project. We were proud to help provide a “home-away-from-home” for these hard workers!

Last week, with the support of Tasu Construction we officially wrapped the demobilization of our biggest project to date: Sqemel Lalem Lodge. LandSea formed a partnership with Shxw’owhamel Ventures in 2018 in pursuit of the workforce housing project in support of the Trans Mountain Pipeline. Since opening our doors in November of 2020, we provided over 1 million meals to workers, serving our last on October 31st, 2023.

It’s been a BUSY couple of months for our team here at LandSea, with the demobilization of three camps and opening of another two in the span of just 8 weeks. We’re excited to share the stories of these successful projects soon, but for now it’s time for some well-deserved rest and relaxation!
As we reflect on 2023, we are grateful for the hard work, resilience, dedication, and generosity of our team, guests, clients, partners, and the many communities we have had the pleasure of working with the year. As we look to the year ahead, we are excited to learn, grow, innovate, and excel as we strive to surpass hospitality standards and deliver remarkable experiences to everyone we serve.
See you in 2024!

On Wednesday night we attended the 2023 Indigenous Business Awards Gala, where we were honoured with the award of Indigenous Partnership of the Year alongside our partners at Shxw'ówhámél Ventures. We are incredibly proud of the opportunities created through Shxw’ōwhámél-LandSea LP, and humbly acknowledge that the success of this partnership would not have been achieved without the participation and support of so many.

A big thank you to Shxw'ówhámél Ventures for the opportunity to work together on such an amazing project – we look forward to seeing what else the future has in store for our partnership!

Thank you to the Nation of Shxw’ōwhámél – the council, the board, and the community – for your ongoing support since the inception of our partnership in 2018.

Thank you to Trans Mountain for choosing Shxwowhamel-LandSea LP and entrusting us with the success of your project.

Thank you to Tasu Construction and Jim Dent Construction for your support in project construction and demobilization.

Thank you to Kayla Bordignon and the team at Site Partners for guiding our engagement efforts during the construction and start-up of the project, and for your nomination.

And of course, thank you to the British Columbia Achievement Foundation for creating such a remarkable platform of recognition for the success and innovation of Indigenous Businesses!

Today is Tahltan day!
All of our camps located in the Traditional Territory of the Tahltan Nation are operated under our partnership with Kica Contracting, a majority Tahltan owned business, Kica-LandSea LP. We work together to provide turn-key remote workforce accommodation, construction, and catering services to projects in the Tahltan Territory. We are grateful for this partnership and for the opportunity to share Tahltan history, culture and food within our camps.

Today is a day to reflect and commemorate the experiences of those impacted by the residential school system, and to honor the healing journey of survivors, their families, and their communities. We are grateful to live and work throughout various stunning traditional territories of Indigenous peoples, and honor the history of their origins on these lands.

As an organization, we continue to expand upon our commitments towards reconciliation through the foundation and growth of new partnerships, a focus on programs that maximize Indigenous capacity and content on our projects, as well as various other initiatives. Reconciliation is a continuous journey of learning, engaging, un-learning, adapting, innovating, thriving and so much more, and we will continue this journey as we strive towards achieving economic and cultural reconciliation.

Here’s a pristine photo of a logging camp we operate near Takla Lake, BC…. Before it was surrounded by wildfires now dancing just 3km away, and before 80 wildfire fighters arrived Monday, erecting an adjoining tent city overnight.

Our small-yet-mighty team on-site have pulled off nothing short of a miracle to ensure these crews remain welcomed and fed while they fight fires to protect these lands. Words can’t really do justice to the herecleum effort and energy that goes into rising to occasions like these. To our staff, we hope you can feel the infinite gratitude, respect, and appreciation we have for you on a daily basis. Truly, thank you.

Canada is home to more than 630 Indigenous Communities, representing more than 50 Nations and 50 Indigenous Languages. More than 200 Distinct Indigenous Groups speaking 30 different Indigenous languages and just under 60 dialects reside in our home province of British Columbia.

We are honoured by the opportunity to work and partner with several of these communities, and we humbly acknowledge and honor their rich histories, unique cultures, and valuable contributions.

Today, we renew our commitment to engaging with Indigenous communities in a meaningful and respectful way, with a goal to build long-lasting relationships that create value and opportunity.

This year we were proud to support the Tahltan Selects hockey team’s annual trip to the Kilrich/Yukon Northern Native Hockey Tournament! Creating opportunity for youth in sports can be especially challenging in rural communities, and the Yukon First Nations Hockey Association has been making a positive impact through hosting this tournament for over 40 years. Congratulations to all the teams who participated, and a big thank you to the organizers and volunteers who contributed to the success of this event.

Recently we received some outstanding feedback from a guest at one of our largest camps that really made our day:

“The kitchen staff, along with the cleaning staff, truly make this camp feel like home. When I wake up in the morning and come back after a long day, the staff never fail at making this camp 'Glow'. I feel the love and soul put into the food and how well the beds are made on cleaning days. Please don’t lose that love and soul, because without it this camp could never be the same.”

It means so much to hear that the dedication and hard work of our wonderful camp staff is recognized and appreciated.

As we continue to move through these hot spells, lets all remember to give some added recognition to those breaking an extra sweat to work through the heat!

Our Story

To most people ‘accommodation’ means a place to live. We do that. We build and operate workforce housing and other types of living facilities in remote areas. To us, accommodation also means responding to the wishes and needs of the people we work with.

At LandSea, we go way beyond basic provision of food and shelter, so that on-site workers remain healthy, at their most productive and feel human. The result is practical, value-based comfort, livability and food people are excited to eat - combined, they elevate all standards of health, safety, and expectation.

LandSea is an industry leading provider of workforce accommodation and catering services on land and sea for major projects occurring throughout Western Canada. We are a recognized authority and niche operator of cost-effective modular land-based and marine floating accommodation facilities. We provide all services to support each project from start to finish – design, permits, engineering, installation, catering, housekeeping, medical services and project support.
