I’m immensely grateful for the life I have lived and for the opportunities that have presented themselves, both good and bad. Knowing yourself, being true to your values, living your truth with kindness and respect to self and others defines your essence. Many are denied such grace. Through others eyes I may appear differently however, authenticity and truth is all I can claim. I’m unique and as an old beau once told me “they broke the mold when they made you”. Here’s to an exciting time ahead filled with travel and adventures and amazing new business opportunities.

Did you know that prior to opening up our lavender farm I owned and operated my own Family Law Mediation practice?

The principles I used in that business were built on the following:
1. Create a safe environment.
2. Do no harm.
3. Bring people to the table.
4. Listen with your heart.
5. Give people space to and time to feel they can trust you.
6. Provide opportunities not solutions
7. Be kind.

The naming of the business “Vive” came about after particularly devasting losses in my personal life. When all around me seemed to be gone I needed to find a way forward and to grow through all the circumstances that I had found myself in. “Vive” was that word - live fully, grow, embrace life and take one step at a time.

When you come to the farm you will experience this incredible peace and tranquility, nature lends herself to embrace you and allow you to rest. The lavender certainly helps to soothe the soul but it is only one small part of the whole.

I look forward to sharing my space with you.

It’s that time of year again, planning events, taking stock of what worked and what needs to change.

I sent out emails yesterday to past guests updating them on what the coming season will look like. I like to keep the communication clear and intimate with those who support me.

A number of respondents came back asking if certain events would be held again which got me thinking that I needed to get the planning started.

So, here we go, let me know what you think, what you would support, what would you like to see - this business only runs because of engaged guests and those who love this place.

It will soon be time for a stay in France again. Avoiding the cold and embracing a totally different culture that I love. Each time I try to find interesting places where beautiful old items can be found. Brocante visiting can be addictive as there’s so many things I love and want but only so much space in my little pad in France. Not sure how many treasure hunters are on here but today I’m celebrating mine. I picked up this heavily tarnished urn from the amazing Kimberley Underwood as she and her team were clearing a house. I know many run from the prospect of polishing silverware but this girl isn’t one of them. I love pieces that have been beautifully made, where craftsmanship shines and pride of ownership can be claimed. So here’s my new ice bucket already with champagne because this year is going to be a great one!!

We are happy to announce that our Afternoon Teas will return this June through to September.

We have however implemented some changes due to increasing costs and keeping efficiency and service a priority.

Firstly, we will not be operating through a booking system. After long consideration it has been decided to revert to email reservations which keeps a continued communication and a more personalized service for the guest.

Secondly, we are thrilled to be included with Leaskdale Loop which results in the second Saturday of each month from June to October we will not be open for Afternoon Tea but will be open for Cream Teas and Bake Store purchases on a drop in basis.

We have also brought a much needed extra baker into our team who will share her European experience of using wholesome ingredients to create wonderfully delicious goodness. We are excited about this collaboration.

Private Tea Parties are available to book for bridal or baby showers however, the demand is high and the dates are limited, so please contact us asap so as to not be disappointed.

Lastly, we have been forced to increase our prices for the teas due to the escalating cost of food, service and maintenance of the property. This is our first increase since we opened three seasons ago and although we have tried to keep costs down we have no choice but to keep competitive without sacrificing the high quality guests have come to expect.

We have been loving our bird feeder visitors this winter. Lots of cute and confident Chickadees, woodpeckers, Juncos, Blue Jays and Cardinals have come to remind us how joyous life is.
