The 'Ideal diet'

What is the 'ideal diet'? We like to think Nature has gotten it right and we should work backwards from there. Humans, as we know them, spent most of our history as Hunter/Gatherers. This suggests we were very opportunistic eaters i.e. we eat what we can, when we can. Notably, humans have evolved to be omnivores.

I imagine life out of a cave and in the forest didn't leave room to be picky! Wake up, hunt, gather along the way, kill and carry that meat home. We didn't look at berries, beans or root vegetables and say 'Im on a low carb diet, I'll just stick to mammoth'. Mammoth meat meals were few and far between!

Carbs are essential to brain and performance health and there are essential nutrients in meat that is hard to find anywhere else! If you do practice vegetarianism make sure you supplement the nutrients youre missing out on!

IT DEPENDS/// In an effort to help connect people with information and resources, we welcome all questions about health and wellness, physical fitness and nutrition. Less carbs more fat? More fat less carbs? High protien? Running good/bad? High weight, low reps? Low weight, high reps? The answer to these and many health, fitness, or nutrition questions is IT DEPENDS! There are very few concrete yes or no answers when diagnosing, coaching or planning something as diverse and special as a human life and that makes it all that more important to find dedicated professionals to learn from and help you on your journey. We even suggest you take what we have to offer with a grain of salt! Do your own research, reach out to the pros and come to a conclusion that works best for you!

Supplements
We often see people use supplements, promoted by a fitness model or popular body builder and accompanied by a plethora of health enhancing promises and benefits. We will be the first to say that these promises could be true, these products may actually work! Our questions are why are you taking them and do you really know what you're ingesting?
Supplements are supplemental or 'provided in addition to what is already present or available to complete or enhance it'. believe in baselines and your baseline in nutrition is a diet made up of whole foods. If you are taking supplements to avoid eating healthy food, you are doing yourself and your long term health a disservice. Over time your body will habitually and physically become addicted to supplements Without a strong baseline of consistent healthy eating for support, if you ever do decide to stop using supplements the negative consequences can be serious and detrimental to your health. Be sure and stick to whole foods FIRST!
Did you know supplements don't have to put the exact ingredients in their labels? Suspect. How many supplements have caused pro athletes to test positive for PEDs? Many. Stay safe and consistent by focusing on a diet of whole foods and consult a doctor before going on any supplements that claim to enhance performance and provide unusual muscle gaining properties.

Red meat gets a bad rep sometimes. Did you know that red meat like beef and bison carry nutrients that can only be found there, certain shell fish and blue algae? Quinoa is the closest vegan nutrative equivalent, with a full array of amino acids. If you do decide to go vegan be aware of what your taking out of your diet as well as what you have to supplement your diet with, now that you exclude a major food group.
