According to Statistics Canada:

On average, 28,600 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 5,500 women will die from breast cancer this year.

Although not as common, it is important to note that men are also affected with this illness and need care and encouragement as much as any woman; It is estimated that 270 Canadian men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 55 will die from breast cancer this year.

Technology has come along way, but without regular checkups and mammograms, people often find out too late. Early detection is key to fighting and surviving breast cancer.

As a way to show our support Arbor employees wear pink ties the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Yesterday, our management team from Harbourview Funeral Centre, Jenkens Funeral Home and Sunset Memorial Gardens had the privilege to present Boys & Girls Clubs of Thunder Bay a cheque for $5000 on behalf of the Arbor Memorial Inc. Foundation. We are honoured to be able to support such great programs in our community.

On Saturday, May 7, 2022 Arbor Memorial Inc. hosted an evening of Gaelic music with a recital by bagpiper Michael Grey at the Harbourview Funeral Centre in Thunder Bay, Ontario .

In attendance were representatives from The Macgillivray Pipe Band of Thunder Bay, The Thunder Bay Police Pipes and Drums, THE Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay and The LSSR Pipes & Drums.

The evening consisted of a collection of Marches, Strathspeys & Reels, Piobaireachd, Hornpipes and Jigs along with stories and Gaelic history. A charcuterie board, a few drinks and fellowship were enjoyed by all in attendance. The Highland Community was honored to have such an esteemed member of the piping world join them for such a wonderful evening.

As today is November 1st, it is now time to wear your poppy over your heart to show support and love for the soldiers who have fallen, and risked their lives for our country.
