We curate each event with so much passion and love with the aim of bridging the gap between us, the diaspora from the SWANA region, and Canadian audiences. Arabic Trap, MARSM is committed to bringing your favourite artists to Toronto and beyond. Since its founding in 2015 in London, UK, MARSM has established an expansive events network across the UK, Europe and beyond, uniting artists, venues, festivals and cultural organizations. Through its enriching programme of live concerts, cultural events, exhibitions, and discussions, MARSM aims to challenge the mainstream representation, and exposure of artists from South West Asia and North African (SWANA) and their diasporas. From hosting some of the biggest names to emboldening burgeoning underground music scenes, MARSM celebrates the diverse music cultures of the region. In the UK, MARSM has become a trusted reference for the region’s dynamic music scenes, featuring a wide range of styles, history and genres, from electronica, Trap, alternative rock, oud recitals to hip-hop showcases, experimental club nights and everything in between.

We’re proud to present Transposition, a stunning new project by Palestinian oud player Abboud Kayyali , joined by Grammy-nominated cellist Naseem Alatrash. Together, they explore the rich interplay between oud and cello, blending the microtonal beauty of Arabic maqam with Western harmony to create a neo-classical sound where East meets West.

Join us April 6th @ Le National for a night of unforgettable performances, powerful voices, genre-defying music, and fearless artistry. Joining forces with the iconic on stage are phenomenal artists who are pushing creative and musical boundaries:

– The legendary Iraqi-Canadian artist, writer, director, and cultural force. Narcy is a pioneer in Arab hip-hop, an award-winning filmmaker, and the voice of a generation.

– Ethiopian-born, Montreal-based rapper and powerhouse lyricist with a razor-sharp flow and a fearless voice. Her music is raw, elevated, and deeply personal.

– A master of Persian percussion, blending centuries-old rhythmic traditions with contemporary innovation. With performances in over 40 countries and collaborations - Ziya brings profound artistry to the stage.

Three years of music, stories, and core memories. Three years of building a space where our beautiful culture, sounds, and powerful voices take center stage. Three years of pushing through every challenge, every late night, and every visa rejection. Three years of passion, growth, resilience, and community.

To every artist who has shared their craft and trusted us, every partner who has believed in our vision, every friend and family member who patiently stood by us through the chaos, and to every single one of you who has danced, sung, and felt with us - thank you. This journey is yours as much as it is ours.
