Safety is KEY in this industry…

A fundamental duty we have as tattoo artists is to provide a safe, comfortable environment for our clients and ourselves 💓

There are definitely more ways than one to do LOTS of things in tattooing, but concerning safety and best practices there are specific protocols in place to keep all of us protected!

Suuuure - there are alternative cost saving methods out there that people use and practice but overall safety is the MOST important element in this career.

Quality of materials and equipment is WORTH the price…every. time.

Having a different technique to do something is completely okay - the important part is KNOWING the best practices and safety elements so you can know which rules can bend and which cannot.

We have to advocate for ourselves in an industry without as much readily accessible and standardized safety education! ✨

What IS a deposit even FOR? ✨

In tattooing (and many other professions) deposits are there for some pretty important reasons! 🌟

To name a few we’ve got:
-Reserving your time slot in the tattoo artist's schedule.
-Compensating for designing time and/or preparation done before the appointment.
-Helping prevent last-minute cancellations/no-shows that leave the artists hanging

But guess WHAT - your deposit is included and applied to the total cost of your tattoo! 🤩

To make everything is as clear as possible, we have a deposit policy that outlines the terms and conditions about deposit payments. 🥳

We include:
-the amount that is required for the deposit(usually it starts at $100 and/or is about 30-50% of the total estimated final cost of the tattoo)
-when the deposit needs to be paid
-short term notice/no-show cancellation conditions

Reading and understanding the deposit policy (and asking us any questions if you need) is the best way to make sure that everyone is on the same page! 😝

These policies are in place to help reduce the amount of loss a business receives if something happens before an appointment!

No client = no tattoo = materials & time wasted = sad artist / and we don’t want that! 😜

HOWEVER we are all humans and we completely understand when last minute LIFE happens - communicating with us as soon as possible about cancellations or rescheduling allows us to do as much as we can for you! 💓

Also we’re ALWAYS here to answer any questions about our deposit policy and to clarify anything in the terms/conditions! 🥰

Learn how to breathe below 👇😮‍💨

Soooo many of us aren’t even aware of our breath, let alone how much power we hold in learning how to work with it.

Anyone who knows how to breathe knows how to do breathwork 😉 sounds pretty easy right?

If you’re like umm wtf do I even do? Well, that’s what I’m here for. I’ll show you something so simple as using our breath to do a load of neat things to control how you feel 🤑

Breathwork is an incredible way to calm our nervous system, get us energized for our day, help up through a difficult time - and SO much more!

I want to share what I’ve learned and studied with you all because I know how impactful it’s been for me - and how much it can benefit YOU 💖

Did you know these facts about healing tattoos?👀

Getting a new tattoo is (in our opinion) one of the BEST things ever! 🤩
And it’s important to know what’s normal as your tattoo is healing!🌸

Tattoos have a tendency to remain red, a little swollen and can be a bit sore in the first 3-10 days after you get it done! 💖

In this time, it is TOTALLY normal to experience:
* Peeling - The skin may flake and peel as it’s regenerating
* Scabbing - Small scabs may form to protect the skin as it heals
* Light Discolouration - Your tattoo may look milkier in colour (or as it there was a thin veil over it)
* Shininess - The tattoo and your skin may appear shiny

It may also be Itchy! And we know it’s tempting, but DON’T ITCH! 😆
Itching your tattoo can cause the healing process to be interrupted and it could affect how your healed tattoo looks 😉

Gently cleansing your tattoo with lukewarm water and unscented soap, blotting dry with a clean paper towel, and moisturizing regularly will help the skin heal faster and with less scabbing and peeling.

But remember - even when your tattoo looks healed on the OUTSIDE - it can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks for the internal healing process to complete. ✨💪

When your tattoo is FULLY healed - it will be smooth around the skin and tattoo, with no peeling, redness, itchiness or discolouration!🤩

Not every tattoo is the same and depending on the placement, size and complexity - your tattoo could need more time to heal to get to this stage🌟
You can ALWAYS ask your artist for their recommendations and advice if you’re having any questions about your tattoo healing process!

Do you know the difference between STUDENTS vs APPRENTICES? ✨

With the Tattoo Artist Fundamentals program students are welcome from every stage of their tattoo journey. In our program specifically, they get to zoom out from just tattoo techniques and look at the macro, the holistic view of what it takes to be a tattoo artist.

Apprenticeships can vary in cost, and time required... traditionally, like in Japanese tattoo culture, they were an "energy exchange" where apprentices would devote their lives to the mentors and have to be fully in it to receive guidance and training over many years of unpaid labour.

These are based on strong loyalty and respect. With the general population's attention span of flies in 2024, it's hard to come by loyalty and dedication like that. It's rare.

In North America, and many other places, there are NO REGULATIONS or formalities that mentors follow, so these types of "loyalty-based" apprenticeships often include a lot of bu****it tasks, and hazing which we are working to remove from the industry!

Apprenticeships also incur a tuition fee (anywhere from $5K-$30K from our research)...still with no guarantees of getting what you need out of them.
All apprenticeships *SHOULD* include all safety, design and technical training, and learning through observation once explained properly, monitored practice and REAL-WORLD application....but sadly, we've heard all too often there are lots of components missing.

Regardless if you have already completed an apprenticeship (proper or not) or if you are looking for a way INTO the industry - this program is designed to fill in ALL the blanks and offers MINDSET & BUSINESS tools that no other program does.

Okay so you’ve gotten the tattoo…now what? 🌸

We are here to teach you how to keep your new tattoo looking vibrant and beautiful with our aftercare guide✨

* Cleanse gently: Always use clean hands to gently cleanse your tattoo with lukewarm water and unscented soap.
* Blot dry: After cleansing, gently blot your tattoo with a clean towel or paper towel.
* Apply a thin layer of cream: Less is more! (More cream doesn’t mean more moisturized 😉)

Remember to steer clear of these things to protect your new masterpiece:

* No soaking: Avoid soaking your tattoo in pools, hot tubs, or lakes to prevent infections.
* Minimize sweating: Heavy sweating can irritate the tattoo and slow down the healing process, so try to keep it to a minimum.
* Keep it breathable: Opt for loose-fitting clothing to keep the area open and breathable, and avoid anything that digs into the skin.

When it comes to activities a good rule of thumb is to avoid contact to the area you’ve been tattooed in as much as possible! Your tattoo will thank you later!💪✨

Remember you can always ask your artist for their recommendations if you’re unsure about anything regarding your tattoo healing process. Larger pieces, or particular body parts may need more time to heal than others!
