Are you newly engaged and starting to book your vendors?

I often get messages from brides asking if they would be booking me too early.

The answer is no- not really!

You should always book your biggest vendors first, as they are the ones who fill up the quickest.

It makes sense to secure them early on in the process, so that you don’t have to worry about that down the road. Believe me when I say, wedding day comes FAST.

Pre Covid I found most brides were booking me a year or two in advance. And then Covid hit. After Covid fizzled out, it was back to booking only a few months in advance, which made it hard for some brides to secure their vendors.

Now it’s back to brides booking a year or two in advance. So, this is just a PSA to get your vendors booked well in advance to avoid any disappointment.

OH BABY! I have had all the gender reveals / new baby announcements this months, and I am here for it! What a special time finding out of you are having a baby girl or baby boy and announcing it to the world.

I had a a gender reveal just when they were becoming a “thing” and I so wish I had professional photos of it.

Take the photos. You’ll never regret it. Spend the money. You’ll never forget it. The biggest regret I hear the most from brides is not booking a GOOD photographer, and not wanting to spend the money on a GOOD photographer. Money comes and goes, your wedding photos will literally last forever. The best investment. You’ll never regret it.

Harding Waterfront Estate Is hands down one of my favourite venues in Ontario. It is the most gorgeous, and exclusive waterfront setting for a wedding. They have style, they have service, and they have originality. I can’t wait to go back there to document another wedding.

Every single one of these are my absolute favourite. This summer, with all of my sessions, my goal is to shoot a good mix of posed shots as well as natural, pretend I’m not shooting you shots. This was my first go of really letting go of direction and I really love how they turned out.

iPhone reflection! I tried to get at least one iPhone reflection shot at each wedding I do, during the ceremony. I just turn my phone off, hold it under my lens and shoot. It create this beautiful downward reflection. Neat huh? Love this wide shot of Donny waiting for his bride.

✨DONNY & ASHLEY✨ What an absolute time. I got to spend 5 incredible days in Cayo Coco with these two and their closest friends and family, and I met the most amazing people. Their big day was nothing short of amazing, but didn't come without it's fair share of bumps along the way! I am forever in awe of A & D's go with the flow mentality and still making their dream day come true. Thank you, thank you, thank for bringing me all the way to Cuba with you to document your wedding. 3 tips for a calm wedding morning:
(If you have any to add please comment)

1. Less is more. The less people you have around, the less crazy it will be. I can absolutely vouch for this. I’ve walked into wedding mornings with a bride and there are 20 people in the room, and it’s very chaotic, making it very stressful you as the bride.

2. Lay off the booze This goes for the guys too! I know a lot of people like to have a drink to loosen up, and that’s totally fine! However, you should try to keep it to a minimum because alcohol can cause MORE stress and anxiety.

3. Have your dress and details already laid out so you know exactly where everything is. This helps for a seamless day!

4. Treat yourself. Set aside some time with a warm relaxing bath, with salts or oils. Take this moment to let it all sink in.

5. Understand and accept that you can’t control every aspect of the day- trust me! Things are going to happen!!

✨3 gorgeous off camera lighting shots for my clients, at night during their reception. Which is your favourite?

The first shot, is beautifully lit by my Godox off camera flash inside my soft box which was held just above my head while shooting.

For the second shot, I wanted to create some rim lighting, not only on my couple but on the trees as well. This was created with my AD 200, and my assistant tucked behind the couple on her knees, pointing the flash toward the sky.

For the third shot, I wanted to light the trees to showcase where they were, but also have the light shining THROUGH them, for a little flash fare effect. This was done with my AD200, my assistant tucked behind them, and her pointing the flash towards me and through them.

These types of shots don’t take long to set up and shoot. All three of these took maybe 5 minutes!
