Maureen Illes, her sister Aleah Longaphie, and their long-time friend, Tamara Raine, share a love for botanical aesthetics that comes from a childhood with families passionate about gardening. In the beginning of the pandemic, these ladies took their passion and created Malvern Roots as a way to share their knowledge with friends and neighbours.

Today, Malvern Roots has become a thriving business within the community. On their social media, Malvern Roots features a variety of different plants that are ready for customers to take home. From easy care plants to more intermediate care, Malvern Roots has something for everyone! In addition, the ladies share a love for recycling and upcycling old pots, and they're currently creating new pots for their customers to enjoy. Despite being busy moms, running their own business has given them a space to create personal connections with their community and the customers they've met online.

As a first generation Canadian, Maureen believes in the importance of learning where you came from and discovering the roots of where it all started. Today, Maureen instills that belief in her own business and in everything she does.
