About The Great Hall, Toronto
Founded in 1889 by captain of industry Samuel J. Moore to serve as Toronto’s first West End YMCA, The Great Hall quickly became the place to train for both famed native marathoner Tom Longboat and dairy and chocolate magnate Morden Neilson, as well as home to some of the earliest-ever basketball games. This Victorian landmark at the corner of Queen West and Dovercourt next transformed into a hub for events of the day, from political speeches and musicals to newspaper publishing and even temporary housing for WWII refugees. By the 1980s it was known as a true cultural centre, housing The Toronto School of Art, the Music Gallery and the Theatre Centre. Now recognized as one of the “Best Live Music Venues in Toronto,” today, this multi-use venue also regularly hosts everyone from top corporations and Canada's political party leaders to popular festivals, weddings and other celebrations. The Great Hall encompasses four distinctive rental spaces where Victorian detail meets modern flexibility. We're here to help you find your ideal location and make it all happen www.thegreathall.ca
