Adding experiences to your guest visits create lasting memories.

Taking on only a limited amount of picnics this year will give us the opportunity to work with a few more photographers, local farms, wineries and Air Bnbs to curate picnic design that compliment their offerings in a easy to setup Custom DIY Kit.

This has been a long time coming and I have wanted to provide this service more since year one. However we were at constant capacity and I just could not fit in the time to offer it.

This year I’m choosing to offer this service early. The joy I feel when I’m driving out of the city is unmeasurable, the people I get to meet have been inspirational and the personal fulfillment I get works wonders when it comes to my mental health as an entrepreneur.

Happy New Year!

Busting out of my winter cocoon and getting back to what I love to do. This time a little later than anticipated as I’m still get over a lingering cold.

After my 2021 season I made it mandatory to take “off” the month of November and December for some rest and recovery.

Btw. Finally went on vacay since 2019 🙌🏾

Normally I would still try to be a bit more active on socials however I decided to take a full on break to work on myself, my brand and where my entrepreneur life is taking me.

It feels good to be back 🤍

Thought of the day…why didn’t I book a vacation.

Raise your hand if this past week your social media has been flooded with tons of photos of everyone on their vacation, in the sun enjoying themselves and living their best lives 🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️

I would have mixed emotions wondering dang maybe I should of tried to sneak one in.

It ok though I won’t be envious and what I’m going to do is prioritize myself more.

It took a long time for me to realize what I can or cannot do when I’m working and running my company.

If I really want to have a weekend off in the middle of July I can.

I just have to plan and schedule my events accordingly.

I have learned not to let my business run me but do the complete opposite.

Have me run my business, this might sound obvious but it is extremely difficult especially as a new small business owner in the most unpredictable, unforeseen times that I have ever experienced.

If you are a small business owner and your feeling it hitting hard I just want to share a bit with you.

Tips lately I have been using to create boundaries and that are helping me have a healthier balance between work and life are:

- giving myself office hours and following them by not responding outside of them

-communicating mainly through emails and scheduling telephone meetings

- ensuring my clients know my response times from the initial quotation to every email response

-putting my phone on do not disturb and away at a certain time

- implementing breaks and lunches that I don’t work at all during

- schedule in advance family & friends events (not trying to fit them in)

- treating myself with something special almost weekly varying from a fancy chocolate to a new piece of clothing

So small business owners that haven’t vacationed this year and going into your busy season…where are you heading?

Event staff / picnic stylists, and a in house florist.

If you think you can exude cheerfulness and all about ensuring our clients are happy and excited for their event.

These are hourly positions paid weekly.

Our HQ is located in Brampton

Must have your own vehicle, and be able to work weekends and holidays.

If you have a larger size vehicle this is an asset.

Have a great go getter attitude and have a passion for the events industry

Able to work outdoors and can handle unforeseen weather changes

Have a great personality and willingness to learn.

Great communication skills and can work well with others

Experience in Social Media/ Photography/ Editing is a asset and can allow for higher pay rate.

Experience in the Events Industry is an asset but not required

Must be able to lift 50lbs

Part- time and full time positions available.

In order to be on our team we do have minimum shift requirements in order to be fair to other team members.

Training in April / May

Starting season once the warm weather kicks in : )

This video was put together by one of my best friends @mz_lita_ she wasn’t sure if I should post and to be honest neither am I but this is so sentimental to me. On average I have work 16 hours a day over the past year. My friends, family and Instagram family have been beside me the whole time. I’m going to be honest ...it’s a lot ...picnics are cute and pretty but there is a lot that goes into it and especially with the level of service and the options that we are trying to give to our clients as we always wanted to ensure we were offering styles as diverse as the communities we live in. It’s been so crazy lately and I think another reintroduction is needed as we’re coming up to the 1 year mark of @picnicsinthe6ix and surpassing 6k on Instagram! This is Barbra-Joi here and if you have been following me since the beginning I want to give you the biggest virtual hug as you have got me here today still standing and I know you see the hard work put into developing and creating some mind blowing picnic setups as I take over the picnic game in Toronto. As the picnic scene is finally trending in Toronto and GTA. I am so happy that we are the OGs in the game. So here’s a bit of a backstory. I am about to turn 33 years old and @picnicsinthe6ix is my second business. When we were faced with the pandemic I was going into my 3rd year of my catering and events business with high hopes, weddings + events booked with a whole lot of excitement of seeing my business grow. That excitement came crashing down March 2020 with cancellations, returning deposits (aka broke broke broke asf) and realizing that my industry may be very slow or completely dismantled for a while. Being a solo entrepreneur that invested her entire savings, earnings and left her job to build a business I made a decision. I made a decision to get my ass up and not sink but grow. Being a caterer I always follow trends and loved the entire luxury picnic vibe I’ve seen over the past couple years I went to work trying to build a business during the pandemic. With long lineups, stores being closed and trying to build connections only virtual. The day I got on the phone and talked to Claudia’s mom as she was planning her daughters surprise graduation picnic was the sweetest thing ever. I could picture her glowing with joy over the success of her daughter in college. She described her personality and let me know she was a theatre major with an eccentric side. She loved bold colours and it was essential for a family memory to include our teepee and dream catchers. Mom even came by and quickly met with me before the event to add personal touches including handcrafts by Claudia’s grandmother. This setup suited the graduate perfectly and they all will have a everlasting lasting family moment that is #priceless

Getting a bit sad...this year not only through my company I really have taken in and appreciated being outdoors so much... it has actually brought such a sense of calm into my life.
