Today, I had the pleasure of being honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award by my high school, Bayview Glen. It's even more special to be toasted and roasted by my mentor, Mr. Church.

It's been 20 years since I graduated from high school. I didn’t always have a clear vision of what my future would look like, but I always had the unwavering support of my teachers and parents, who strove to provide me with a higher education that built my character and confidence, shaping me into the person I am today.

As Mr. Church so eloquently put it, my grades were not the highest—far from it—but I always worked hard to do my best. This work ethic carried me through my education at , the launch of multiple businesses, and the growth of my family business, Chandan Fashion, to new heights that I never imagined possible. Being the only Sikh Sardar in my school had its challenges, but it's also what built my character, after all to stand out in a crowd of people is the true meaning of a Sikh. I took this adversity and carried as an asset the rest of my life, even until today as I am scheduled with interviews around the world and wear my visible difference as a badge of honour.

I want to give a shout-out to all the students out there who might not have the A+ grades that others expect of them. I stand here as living proof that if you work hard, set goals, and believe in yourself, you too can move mountains and change the world. This is just the beginning.

Dad, you always told me that all you ever wanted was to see me come home with an honor roll award. I wasn’t able to do that, but today, I’m coming home with an award that I know you’ll be proud of.

Thank you for everything, Mom and Dad. Thank you for this honour.
