This is 47.

Weirdly, all of my life, I’ve looked forward to this age. It’s always been my favourite number - it’s a prime number, it’s made up of my two fave numbers, it looks great in calligraphy…(you get how my brain works🤪) - and here I am.

And it feels wonderful.

Somewhere along the way, we got the idea that it was wrong for women to get older. That’s dumb.

Yes, I am thrilled to be in bed early, and feel my muscles when I do things sometimes…. And I also feel so much more at home in my own skin and soul.

It’s a bloody huge privilege to get older and I am celebrating that today and this entire year, starting with a collection of some of my favourite moments from 2024 that brought me here.

So cheers to 47 🥂🍾

Have you heard about the trendiest word of 2025?

It’s “misogi” and it’s a Japanese Shinto concept of difficult chalk gets in nature to clean off, or purify, the contamination caused by modern conveniences (who me love modern conveniences?!).

It has at its (today’s meaning) core an ethos of finding a very hard physical challenge that you may not be able to complete.

Or as - author of The Comfort Crisis - puts it, two tenets:

1) Make it really hard

- and my personal favourite -

2) Don’t die

Embracing this, today my dear friend of 30+ years and I signed up for a 50km trail race 180 days from now.

We are both pretty athletic but the last few years, for me at least, have not been top-of-the-pops when it comes to maintaining my fitness.

Can we do it? Not sure. Last year’s 23km almost killed me (.sisco seemed to recover faster than me!) but I guess we will see…

This also coincides with one of my other goals for 2025: do more cool s**t with people I love. This ticks that box, too.

It’s time. After months of deliberation, it’s time to put the custom stationery business to rest. Life has become a lot busier since I took over the business. With a growing kid, busy full-time career and soooo many other things, I just can’t keep up in a way that makes me feel like I’m doing myself, or anyone around me, any favours.
