I still remember when I walked into that 19th century warehouse on 96 Wilson, Cervin Vegas speakers were pumping out minimal techno. I paid $5 to hear more of that techno and house sounds – my addiction to music had commenced. The analog sound of the Roland TR-303 drum machine, was the only medicine for my craving. My father, a jazz drummer, was a major influence as I remember hanging out in the s
tudio as a young boy while dad jammed with now great Polish Jazz musicians. It took me until my early 30’s to start to understand jazz music. Jazz did not have the electronic sound per se, but it had Miles Davis, Weather Report, and Billy Cobham, artists that used electro acoustic sounds in their compositions. That was my "bridge" between jazz and electronica. Eclipse was the local warehouse party production that was responsible for the best sounds in techno in the Hammer (Hamilton,ON) in the early ‘90's. I worked with the Eclipse and Storm productions in my early beginnings in the industry back in 1995. I love the underground part of this music movement; the late nights, people dancing and showing respect to the dj and his craft.
