I love packing day. Whenever we have a wedding on the upcoming Saturday we call this packing day. On days like today I rarely have appointments at the studio. I edit, but usually in 1-2 hour increments between -- packing.

Packing because we have a wedding this Saturday!! At least we will have snow!! Last February we went outside (uploaded here) - anyhow. Many many years ago an oldtimer photographer told me this trick of packing on Thursdays. And that means being 100% ready to shoot on Friday, even though the wedding isn't until Saturdays. By following this tradition we NEVER have issues like missing cards, or broken equipment. I follow my packing list fanatically and it allows 100% certainty that we are ready to go for the wedding. Cannot tell you how awesome that feels.

Mother Nature vs. Wedding Photographers... Again. 😅📸

Sigh… Mother Nature hates wedding photographers. Again.

Kayla & Zach had a kick-ass Portuguese wedding, full of energy, love, and, well… bugs. 🦟😂 Cole was the photographer, with Samuel and maybe Camille (or was it Isaac? 🤔). Either way, I edited the wedding photos, so I remember one thing clearly—the groom had a cool classic car. But today’s story is about Adamson Estate, my favorite wedding park.

Now, I blame it on the time of year, but maybe it was all the champagne… Either way, I had to spend two days editing just a dozen photos because there were THOUSANDS of flying bugs in the shots! 😩 I think the sugar in the champagne they shook and sprayed attracted them. Never again.

Thankfully, Photoshop AI now detects and removes every single bug in just seconds—so if this happens again, I’ll be laughing. 😂

Throwback Love Story! 💍📸

Ahhh, Liz & George—a beautiful wedding from all the way back in 2015. But today’s story is about how we ended up shooting their engagement photos in Montreal!

Back in 2014, Marianna called Liz to schedule their engagement session. At the time, everyone was heading to The Distillery District or Lakeshore (before they started charging a $350 permit!). During the call, Liz suggested the May 18th weekend, but Marianna let her know we’d be in Montreal—we used to own a film conversion studio in St. Laurent. Well, one thing led to another, and next thing you know… we’re shooting their engagement photos in Old Montreal!

If you look closely at the middle photo in this collage, you’ll see the park where George proposed! Years later, they just had a child, so of course—we took some family photos too! ❤️

Chasing Light & Stories! ☀️🍷

I really enjoyed telling the last story, so I’m making this a regular thing!

📍 Dark Horse Winery, Grand Bend, Ontario

This sunset photo has a story that actually starts way back in 2020—on our way home from Florida during the COVID scare. Driving down the highway, I saw hundreds of windmills. Ever since they put that first one up at the Exhibition in downtown Toronto, I’ve been fascinated by them. Fast forward a few years, and we’re at this winery—I spot the windows in the background and had to grab a few shots.

After dinner, I convinced Ewa & Michael to step out for some sunset portraits—and wow, was it worth it. We always make it a point to get outside as the sun comes down, especially at a vineyard, golf course, or one of the most incredible wineries in the country. Moments like this? Absolutely priceless.

Random Wedding Magic! 🎞️✨

So this time, I decided to try something I love—randomization. I go into a folder with thousands of photos, randomly select one, and... AHHH HAAAA!

📍 Club Roma, 2024 – Team: Cole, Isaac & Camille

There are several photos before this—one even printed 24x30 on canvas (long story... I printed the wrong one! They looked so similar! Totally my fault). But this? This was actually my favorite of the four, taken by—I think—Cole.

I chose sepia because I love its definition. The highlights, the expressions, the shadows—all perfect. The sharpness of the bubbles, the way it stopped time just right. Even the sun spots work. No extra editing beyond the effect—just pure, unfiltered wedding magic.

The groom’s son had been snapping pictures all day, and when he saw me capturing the bridesmaids, he jumped right in. Some moments just happen—and they make for the best shots.

One of my goals for 2025 is to expand the SIGS Photography website—specifically by adding a dedicated gallery.

One of the few downsides of wedding photography is that after capturing a couple’s special day, we often lose touch with them. So, I had an idea: Jean’s Favorite Photos Art Gallery—a space to showcase some of the lesser-seen images that I absolutely love.

This shot is from a beautiful 2023 wedding at —how amazing is that cake topper?! And, of course, the couple! Definitely one of my favorite weddings from that year.

Sammy Issac Gabby Saulie Photography..... SIGS = our Family. I met Marianna when she was the photographer for my brother's wedding over 20 years ago. We shoot 40-50 weddings a year in Toronto, Ontario and in South Florida. Our approach is to be prepared & then have fun. On your wedding day, if you are having a great time, we see that in the photos and video. Jean has one problem.... he LOVES technology. So if a new drone comes out or a new tecnologhy like Virtual Reality is invented you can be sure that he testing it and trying to use on your wedding day.
