*From Queen to Doctor: Celebrating Dr. Mya Maria Bartholomew*

Congratulations are in order for Dr. Mya Maria Bartholomew, who was crowned Miss Point Fortin Borough Queen in 2019. Mya has recently completed her medical studies at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, transitioning from a beauty queen to a doctor.

Mya's journey is an inspiring testament to her dedication and hard work. Her achievement not only brings pride to her but also to the entire Point Fortin community. She has shown that beauty and intellect can go hand in hand, serving as a role model for many young women.

Dr. Mya Maria Bartholomew’s successor, Dr. Tehilla Jeffrey, who was crowned Borough Queen in 2023, continues this legacy of excellence. Both women exemplify the high standards and diverse talents of the Point Fortin Borough Queens.

Here's to Dr. Mya Maria Bartholomew – may her journey as a medical professional be as illustrious as her reign as Borough Queen.

Heliconia Congratulates T&T’s First Female Commissioner of Police on Historic Appointment

The Heliconia Foundation for Young Professionals is proud to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Erla Harewood-Christopher on her appointment as the first female Commissioner of Police in Trinidad and Tobago. This appointment is a significant milestone in the country's law enforcement and a clear demonstration of the progress being made towards gender equality and diversity in leadership positions.

Ms. Harewood-Christopher's appointment follows in the footsteps of other nations such as Australia, Canada, and the United States of America, who have also appointed female police commissioners, showing a growing trend towards diversity and inclusion in the police force.

As the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Ms. Harewood-Christopher has a critical role to play in ensuring the safety and security of Trinidad and Tobago's citizens. The Heliconia Foundation has high expectations for her leadership, particularly in promoting community policing, reducing crime, and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency within the police force.

The Foundation salutes all parliamentarians who participated in making this historic appointment a reality. This is a testament to the important role that parliamentary cooperation can play in driving progress.
