Baraat: A baraat is a celebratory wedding procession involving live music and dancing.

Here are our top tips for ensuring a successful baraat. ✨

1. Plan Your Route: We highly recommend creating baraat maps or routes in advance to ensure a smooth procession. Inform your venue about the starting and ending points to avoid any last-minute confusion. This proactive approach helps in arranging necessary logistics like pylons and security if needed.

2. Time it Right: Allocate around 45 minutes to an hour for the baraat, keeping in mind that the actual procession typically lasts about 15-20 minutes. Avoid extending the dancing and singing for too long to prevent guests from getting tired or uncomfortable, especially in the heat. Our timing strategy includes buffer time to account for any potential delays during the morning preparations.

3. Arrive Early: If you’re the partner hosting the baraat, aim to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. By planning for early arrival, you can accommodate any unexpected delays and ensure that the procession runs smoothly without unnecessary disruptions.

Sharing some love for one of the most delightful couples we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Sheena & Vivek reached out to us in January 2023, feeling a bit lost as they planned their November 2023 wedding from Ottawa. Despite the distance, we clicked right from the start. I’ll never forget Sheena’s quirky question during our initial meeting: ‘So, what’s the worst you’ve seen on a wedding day?’ Her genuine curiosity set the tone for our collaboration and what a fun journey it was. ✨

Their priorities were clear:

1) Breaking norms with a Female Pandit. It was a challenge, but one we took on with extreme passion and we made it happen!
2) Crafting a thoughtful guest experience for their outdoor winter wedding ceremony. We included elements such as valet parking, heaters and an abundance of delicious food.
3) Designing a unique aesthetic that reflected their personalities and the season. Alongside Amna from , we designed the wedding to include dried flowers and blue in the colour palette. November is a unique month where it’s not necessarily fall, but not quite winter. Sheena could only imagine twigs as decor. 😂 They were seriously both blown away with what we came up with.
