How is your social network?

We have some friends new to Canada who are looking for work in anything related to their previous professions, which are:
* Nursing (or related)
* Librarian (or related)
* Admin assistant (or related)
* Midwifery (or related)
* Social Work (or related)
* School bus driver

Our social capitol makes us very rich people...due mainly to our social network. So I am asking my FB friends to consider if you have access to decision-makers and job opportunities in fields of work related to these ladies, friends of ours here on refugee status. They live in a woman's shelter near our home and are trying to living off of a basic stipend from the Canadian government but they cannot thrive there.

Can you assist us...them?Please take the time to forward these job types to others you know and let me know if you find someone gracious enough to interview and even hire one of these amazing ladies, friends of ours! Thank you so much.

Friends new to Toronto under Refugee Status seeking jobs in these fields -
* Nursing (or related)
* Librarian (or related)
* Administrative assistant
* Midwifery (or related)
* Social Work (or related)
* School bus driver

We have several friends who have come to Toronto from various African countries as far back as last August... AND ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR JOBS!

A group of friends decided we would step into this problem (of justice and discrimination) and try to help them. They live in a woman's shelter and are living off of a basic stipend from the Canadian government but they cannot continue this forever.

We just finished a 3rd evening with 4 ladies going over their resumes, coaching them on interviews, helping them answer other questions about the job market here, and hearing their stories of how difficult it is for them. We have generally expressed to them our love and care for them in this season of great personal need!

Our next step, and really their greatest expressed need (other than recovery from depression due to the difficulty they are going through) is for legitimate job opportunities in fields that relate to their professional experience.

So I am posting this notice to ask my FB friends to consider if you have access to decision-makers and opportunities in these fields of work:
* Nursing (or related)
* Librarian (or related)
* Administrative assistant
* Midwifery (or related)
* Social Work (or related)
* School bus driver

As a backup, they have also been applying at retail stores and restaurants because they have had no open doors in their professions. It's unbelievable that 3 of the 4 have been invited to ZERO interviews after months of submitting applications, and the 4th only had 2 interviews but was declined because she was missing just one skill in an area she had never worked before! I mean you can't make up the stories they are telling us. There is most certainly a large hidden world of injustice in hiring practices!

Update! This is still available... We have a basement apartment rental that's available May 1st with half board, private bathroom, laundry, etc. It's not a separate suite, so more ideal for a homestay student who wants to living with our family. They have a private room and bathroom - basically the whole basement. We have rented this this over the years and the students really benefit from staying with a family, esp those who are new to Canada. We live near Humber College South and have easy transit options (bus, streetcar, subway and GO) to school, even to downtown schools. Please DM me for the monthly rental rate and if you have anyone to recommend.

For friends of my FB friends - We have a basement apartment rental that's available May 1st with half or full board, private bathroom, laundry, etc. It's ideal for a homestay student who is open to living with our family. They have a private room and bathroom. We have done this over the years and the students really benefit from staying with a family, esp those who are new to Canada.
