📚On May 24th, 1976, Steven Spurrier, an Englishman running a wine shop and wine school in Paris, organized a tasting of six top California cabernets and chardonnays to celebrate the American Bicentennial.

The judges were among the best tasters in France, and, to everyone’s surprise, chose a California wine over the French for both the red and white flights.

🍷The tasting became known as the Judgment of Paris, and ended an era in which it was thought that fine wine came only from Europe.

👩‍💻As a professional wine educator, it is important to understand Wine History and what made the wine industry what it is today in different parts of the world.
Its keep learning and staying neutral beyond politics or borders, that's what a true wine professional does.
I got to visit Chateau Montelena, Stag's Leap and of course Grgich Hills to understand the facts and learn about the players in this event that changed wine history.

🤗I'm enjoying wine history this weekend !!!🍷📚

🍷If you're ready to elevate your Monday wine game then it's time to rediscover Dehesa la Granja – a hidden gem💎 located in western Spain in the province of Zamora.
The winery is built on a sprawling ranch, where the 250 hectares of high-quality Tempranillo In the "Tierra del Vino" de Zamora appellation are crafted by the legendary Familia Fernández Rivera.

✨What makes it so unique? This bold red is born in a land of ancient cellars and wild beauty, where winemaking is both tradition and art in the unique Castilla y León.
🍇Made from 100% Tempranillo, the grapes are aged for 2 years in American oak barrels inside a 300-year-old stone cellar carved into the rock. Yes, it's as magical as it sounds and I hope I can visit soon!

😋Tasting notes?
Deep cherry color, aromas of ripe black fruit, spice, and a hint of leather. On the palate: rich, full-bodied, with refined tannins and a long, elegant finish. A wine that whispers stories of the land it comes from 🇪🇸

Why now?
🏘️It’s the perfect moment to add this to your collection — as this wine continues to age beautifully in bottle while it's also expressive and ready to drink .
🍴it’s also incredibly food-friendly. Think: slow-roasted meats, hard cheeses, or even just a quiet night with a book.

🍷A great wine for all year long and perfect to start our Spring season 🌷🌸🌻🌺🌹🌞
🥂 Cheers to tradition, depth from a great wine region and wine family. Salud!

🥂Reflecting on a year if Wine, learning and growth🥂📚

🤓As a seasoned wine educator, I often find myself bridging the gap between a bottle and its story.
Beyond tasting notes, wine is culture, history, and experience poured into a glass, and I get to bring that alive for others! Super proud of my wine courses!

This year brought challenges and triumphs
✨ Finding ways to keep wine education accessible and engaging, blending tradition with innovation.
✨ Tackling misconceptions about wine; it’s not just for the elite, but for everyone curious enough to sip and learn.
✨ Supporting people through their journeys—whether they’re servers, sommeliers-in-training, or enthusiasts who simply love wine.
It’s not always easy. Creating meaningful learning experiences takes dedication, but seeing that aha! moment on someone’s face is what makes this work so rewarding🥹

So, what’s in the glass for 2025?
🌟 My goal is to reach more diplomacy in wine, fostering a community that celebrates wine without intimidation here and in Central America.
🌟 To champion wines from diverse regions—those hidden gems (Croatia, Greece, Austria, Loire & Alsace, Castilla y León, Tasmania, Jerez, etc) and share their unique stories.
🌟 And, of course, to keep learning myself, because as we know, wine is a lifelong teacher (soon to be PWE📚🤞✈️)

🙏To all of you who joined my classes, workshops, and tastings this year, THANK YOU! for your curiosity and open minds.

🍷Let’s raise a glass to more connection, education, and memorable wine moments in the year to come. 🍇

🥳What’s your 2025 wine goal? Are you looking to learn, taste, or explore something new? Let’s grow together!
