Art Exhibition Viewing & Sale - January 4 & 8
OFF THE WALL 2024/2025

The Visual Artists of the Heliconian Club are excited to announce our Sale of affordable art. All the pieces are $200 or less and no larger than 100 square inches. There is an exciting array of media on display, from encaustic to watercolours, oils, acrylics and more.

The works for sale are on display in the historic Heliconian Hall, and can be taken home on the same day of your purchase. There are 2 upcoming viewings of the show. While this is a departure for us, we hope it will be a new spark in your home. We want our customers to be able to take home some original art created by local female artists.

And we’re back! Heliconian Hall was packed on Tuesday evening to hear Erum Shazia Hasam discuss her Giller nominated novel We Meant Well (ECW Press, 2023). There are just a few subscriptions left for the in-person Literary Lecture Series, but the online LLS has no registration limits! Subscriptions to the Thursday In-Person and Online Lecture Series' are now available! Enjoy eight lectures offered monthly at Heliconian Hall or online at your own pace.
There are authors with whom you will be familiar, talented newcomers with whom you will be impressed, and international authors. There are fiction and non-fiction titles whose content is timely, informative, and entertaining.

Bursting with Colour is our summer art exhibit, on display from July 4 to September 4, 2024.
Summer in the City is a time for inspiration and experiences. This group show focuses on the joy that colour gives during the warm summer days. It is a mix of approaches, media and subjects, to capture a feeling and the energy that colour conveys.

Like so many great artists, Heliconian Club artists are also inspired by colour.

Angie Littlefield's presentation "Painted out of the Picture: The Wives of the Group of Seven" is only six days away!

Get to know Angie:

Author/Curator Angie Littlefield has authored three books about Tom Thomson. Her most recent work, Tom Thomson's Fine Kettle of Friends, was shortlisted for the Whistler Independent Book Award in 2021. A long-time member of the Heliconian Club, Angie has also published articles and curated exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Germany, and the Lonsdale Gallery in Toronto.
