In French, "fleur seule" means single flower. It describes a minimalist approach to flower arranging, where stems are placed in individual containers and grouped together.⁠

Not to be confused with Fleur de Sel, the delicate sea salt that enhances the flavour of food, Fleur Seule is a florist's technique that simplifies arranging flowers. Even better, it’s perfect for working with garden cuttings — just as with salt, a little goes a long way!⁠

This collection was purchased by a client for a special dinner in a restaurant. An added bonus, these little vases are easy to give to guests to take home. ⁠

Sometimes, flowers say what words cannot. I want to share that my mother, Margaret, passed away peacefully in her 93rd year, surrounded by her four children on the spring solstice. Her funeral was last Friday, and while it was sudden, I’m at peace with it all. I have lots of support around me and a wonderful staff. I feel it’s going to be alright.⁠

I made her funeral flowers myself—an act of love and, in its own way, comfort. Nestled among them was a Helxine iron cross, commonly known as a shamrock, a quiet tribute to her Irish heritage.⁠

This is more personal than what I usually share here, but it felt important. Thank you for being part of my community. 💚

🔐✨ Locked In: A Floral Mis-en-Scène ✨🔐⁠

and I were at it again! This vintage safe—left behind by the previous tenant from the mid-1940s—made the perfect prop for a moody floral moment. Too heavy to move, with beautifully crafted interior millwork, its drawers became trays for roses, butterfly ranunculus, mimosa, and tulips.⁠ And there's even Quince branches in the upper right hand corner.⁠

Kathleen waited for nightfall to capture the magic—scroll to see the safe in daylight and catch a glimpse of Quince history.⁠

Fun fact: The founder of the buildings on Wagstaff Drive, Robert Wagstaff, came to Toronto from Britain with his family. His maternal grandmother’s name? Elizabeth Quince!⁠

🌿✨ A chuppah is a canopy under which a couple stands during their wedding ceremony in the Jewish tradition—a beautiful symbol of the home they’ll build together. It’s always a joy to decorate (or even create from scratch!), especially when it includes a treasured family heirloom.⁠

For my own backyard wedding (remember those intimate COVID weddings?!), I grew a living canopy from potted vines—passion flower, ivy, and mandevilla—over the summer. 🌸💚⁠

Our Story

Simply put, we love flowers, and we love giving them to you! We are beyond thrilled to give flowers everyday, to be a part of your celebrations, your intimate moments, and your daily lives. We absolutely love sharing in the positive feelings flowers bring.

While living in England, our founder unearthed her love of all things botanic while moonlighting to help pay the rent. Up at dawn to condition flowers fresh from market, she worked as a florist’s assistant before heading to art school. Stripping foliage, putting stems in water, and bundling blooms into hand-tied bouquets, Rosie found her fine arts career, re-directed by the romance and peace of working with flowers. That presence informs our approach to everything we do at Quince.

Our shop is staffed with passionate floral artists who use flowers and your vision as their raw materials.

Quince Flowers was launched in 1997 and is located in Toronto’s Riverside district. Rosie is the co-chair of the Riverside BIA (Business Improvement Area) board. She lives in the east-end with her two sons, and partner Nina.
