Adios Legend!

Our heartfelt tribute to the three-time National table tennis champion and former International paddler V. Chandrasekar who passed away on Wednesday due to COVID-related complications.

Chandra was a ferocious fighter during his playing days and people admired him for his never give up attitude.

His playing career was cut short in 1984 following a botched knee surgery at a Chennai hospital, which led to him losing mobility, speech and vision. He fought back to recover and served the game as a coach. He also fought a legal battle against the hospital and got a verdict in his favor.

Chandra’s autobiography with Seetha Srikanth, My fightback from Death’s Door published in 2006, was well received as it frankly recounted in some detail certain important incidents in his playing career and his battle with the hospital, among other things.
