November Skills Newsletter

What a great month of upside-down fun! In October, we learnt and practiced a wide range of upside-down skills that had several benefits for our young athletes!

Not only does hanging upside down play a role in self-regulation, particularly for sensory-seeking children, but it also stimulates the vestibular system in our bodies. Our vestibular system is an integral sensory system contributing to balance, motor planning, motor skills, coordination, posture, and body and spatial awareness.

For the month of November, we look to our ‘Round the World theme, where we will be focusing on a range of skills involving turns and moving round and round! While our JR Gymnasts and Ninjas will be consolidating their jumping and landing skills, they will further this skill by incorporating half turns and full turns to improve their positioning, posture and strength. Our SR Gymnasts and Ninjas will also be learning and developing the round off, which is a key skill that gives power to their tumbling skills and helps students progress to more challenging passes. In addition to the round off, our SR Gymnasts will be working on their assisted back hip-circle with casts. This skill helps develop coordination and build their confidence for rotating around the bar.

Keeping in theme with ‘Round the World, our students will recap on their previous skills learnt and begin to work on our new focus skills.

Our Focus Skills for our students for this month will be:

JR Gymnasts: Half and full turns, advanced rolls, handstands, cartwheel progressions, cast and back hip-circle progressions

SR Gymnasts: Round off, assisted back hip-circle with casts, advanced rolls, handstands & cartwheels

JR Ninjas: 180 jump turns, turn vault, cart

SR Ninjas: 180 & 360 jump turns, turn vault, cart, cast away



We’re so proud of the incredible progress that our students have made in just a few months and are looking forward to showing off these skills in our Kidnasium Winter Showcase (Week of Monday, December 16th - Sunday, December 22nd)!

Play to Learn, Learn to Grow at Club Kidnasium.

Kidnasium was founded in the Mount Pleasant Village community over 20 years ago. It began as a gym that primarily focused on the development of physical literacy skills in young children through the use of recreational gymnastics. In December 2019 the company was officially re-branded to Club Kidnasium Discovery Studio – A Modern Day Village for Kids with a simple goal:

Create Inspiring spaces that provide children with the opportunity to wholeheartedly be kids while developing the life tools needed to become awesome adults.

Club Kidnasium is a 4,000 sq ft facility with a dedicated Physical Education Studio (Gym), Creative Art Studio and Multipurpose classroom with plans to add more additions. With the partnership of local businesses we have created a safe community space that impacts children’s lives through the power of play, the freedom to create and lifelong positive experiences. We have expanded our audience and now provide fun, safe and quality programs to children 14 and under all under one roof.
