Ritmo Flamenco is Toronto's foremost Flamenco Dance School and Company directed by the Scannura family who pursue their art form with excellence and authenticity. Our new location in the Junction/Stockyards offers classes in flamenco dance and bellydance for all levels. This studio is also a performance venue and Ritmo Flamenco will be hosting intimate flamenco gatherings featuring members of our ensemble.

You will still see posts on my YouTube channel but I won’t be sharing full excerpts of each class like Inhabe done in the past. My choreography is the result of a lifetime of knowledge and it has a lot of value to me and should be available to those who are presently studying with me in person or on zoom. I'm excited to launch Ritmo Flamenco's new Patreon where you will see flamenco videos that will enhance your learning. New this year is a multi level class called FLAMENCO DRILL and will be a great class similar to a workout class but focusing on flamenco skills. If you enjoyed the summer intensives you will definitely love this class that will take place EVERY WEEK! We are offering a drop in rate for this class as well @ $25. Sept 11 – Dec 11 (no class Nov 13)Alegrias means “joy” is is a lively branch of Solea This form has a compas cycle of 12 beats. It is a vigorous dance with an entrada, silencio, escobilla and bulerias finale. It is a very important dance to learn as it is very complex, and the numerous sections and changes in tempo strengthens a dancer’s technique and stamina, while demanding a highly expressive and mature element. Pre-requisite: Bulerias, Tangos, Solea or minimum 3 yrs of training.

Ritmo Flamenco’s Summer Intensive Workshop Series has garnered a significant interest, prompting us to introduce an additional series of classes in August. Please note that the July workshops are scheduled for July 30th and 31st with limited spots available. August’s sessions will be the final opportunity to engage in an enjoyable evening of dance before the fall term begins! INTERMEDIATE FLAMENCO: Wednesday, August 21st from 6:45-8:00pm. Today I wanted to highlight Ritmo student Melissa Agius who has been a great friend and student for many years. She originally started with us in the early 2000’s when our studio was at College and Spadina. I didn’t see her for awhile as she was busy creating a beautiful family with two kids (one named Anjelica)! She married a man who is half Maltese as well! She came back to flamenco a few years ago and realized she loved having special time for herself even though she is extremely busy as Manager of Cultural Events and avenues for the City of Mississauga. I wanted to feature her to show that when it comes to being busy we need to keep women like Melissa in mind and learn from them. Keep your body moving and find something that is specially for you and try not to let that go! Thanks Melissa for staying with me and dancing flamenco with all of us! Our schedule of classes start on September 11th! There is still to get a spot but we are only offering a few. It’s going to be a great year!

Danzas Sagradas (Sacred Dances) was created in 2013 by Ritmo Flamenco as an anti-war statement. Inspired by Pablo Picasso's "Guernica", choregrapher Anjelica Scannura expressed through flamenco and contemporary dance the emotions that were inspired by the painting. We have been performing and teaching flamenco for 30 years in Toronto at our base studio, York University and our satellite location in Prince Edward County. We have travelled the world teaching and performing and have received critical acclaim for our “brand” of flamenco that refuses to be formulaic. Our daughter Anjelica Scannura is an award-winning dancer and choreographer and proves that flamenco is bred in the bone! Our new location in the Junction/Stockyards offers classes in flamenco dance and classical spanish dance for all levels.
