Hot tip: anthurium don’t love the cold, and if you don’t have the ability to add them on site in your designs, often our team keep little baggies on hand for anthuriums to keep production {and to be able to envision the end product}
We’ve popped them into bouquets and arrangements when needed, and just covered the tropical with a little bag- remove on setup and save for next time ✌️🤝

Let’s chat Bouquet approach and design - these are only a few things we discuss in my Bouquet Design 101 Workshops 💕 what questions do you ask your clients when discussing their bouquet? how do your clients describe what they envision when you chat about bouquets? How do you help guide them if they need support in choosing the style of their bouquet to compliment their wardrobe? What are your least favorite flowers to use in bouquet design? TELL ME EVERYTHING! 🦩HOT TIP 💞Sometimes less is more and pairing back on ingredients helps to create impact without confusion. This arrangement consists of 2 pink Caladium leaves and some poppin’ pink nerine in a pin frog from @floralgeniusig = easy breezy FUN AND MAGIC 🦩

Cascading bouquets: are you team way or team nay? HINT: I’M TEAM HELL YAY!

IF YOU WANT CLIENTS TO CHOOSE COLOR- SHOW THEM HOW WELL YOU DO COLOR!!!! I get asked all the time how my brand @blushandbloom came to do so many weddings that aren’t just white, blush and green. We do have lots of neutral weddings {that are just as fabulous} but years ago, I started putting out color in shoots, on my Instagram feed, using up leftovers and buying flowers for nothing other than marketing to help show the people what we can do! Any chance you can get to play with color, even for corporate events or markets can be used as a selling point for clients who want colour but do not know how to make it happen. School yourself on palettes and seasonal flower combinations as well as what’s trending in floral- and in fashion and design- to be able to offer this insight to clients who may come to you for guidance! Ask about the other details to help guide your clients. Using color should come natural and if clients have reservations, there are always ways to introduce colour in a way that still feels authentic to the couple. LET’S GO!

If you’re looking for a bouquet that is not only aesthetically pleasing - but LIGHTWEIGHT with MOVENT, flower ingredient selection is KEY! You won’t get light, fluttery movement with heavy stems and bulky/heavy focal blooms. Pair them with delicate, fetal flowers which generally are best placed using longer stem length to create the movement. Those roses aren’t going to give you that WIGGLE AND JIGGLE am I right? So. Plan several of these ingredients into your bouquet design to be sure you have a selection that works for your aesthetic, and if BOUNCE is key- BOUNCEY INGREDIENTS YOU SHALL NEED!

I get asked a lot by new florists what the best way to learn the ropes of this industry, and My advice to anyone and everyone who will listen is to FREELANCE FOR ALL TYPES OF FLORISTS! Learning other business owners approaches to design, client relations - how to manage a team and how to execute a vision {and handle pressure} is so essential. I did this a lot in my early years and when I can, still occasionally do freelance for a friend from time to time to keep me on my toes!

The question: “Why are my bouquets so tight? I start with them loosely placed, and when I finish everything has moved and become tight and round” The answers: in my humble opinion, after over 15+ years of teaching is usually starting with the GRIP. Other factors can often be the ingredients and amount of which you use {you need less than you think you do} Not trimming stems as you go is always a hindrance for bouquets changing shape at the end. We offer small class sizes with individual attention, and hands on learning.

Each session attendees will take away technical details, principals + elements all while using nature's most beautiful paintbrush, and leave with a whole new appreciation for design and flowers in general.
