It was such a treat to have Eric Mundy and Clarence Lochhead joining us in worship today. The duo played several numbers that you typically would not hear in church, but lends themselves beautifully to today's message. Check us out online here. https://youtu.be/VP7GAPVOiSo

This Sunday during worship we'll come together as a community to make a lighthearted exploration of how we might find the holy in what is sometimes described as 'secular' music. We look forward to welcoming special musical guests Eric Mundy and Clarence Lochhead in worship.

THE SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS - Sunday December 10th - 7:00 pm

12/03/2023

Advent one! Our journey to Christmas begins. This Sunday we will be sharing in a shorter Messy Church style intergenerational service to begin the season where we will focus on stories of angels proclaiming a new kind of freedom with biblical figures like Hagar and Mary. Please join us after the service for decorating the hall, working on seasonal crafts, and enjoying a cooked lunch together.

We are pleased to share our Advent newsletter. The online edition is available here. Hardcopies available Sunday.

All are welcome to join us for worship this morning at 10:30AM. Today, celebrating Christ the King, the Readers’ Theatre group will present three -- often humourous -- dramatizations of scripture which illustrate God’s abundant love, how to live that love and how to achieve eternal life. Finally, we’ll do one more drama reenacting Jesus’s commission to his disciples.

All are welcome this evening at 7:00 pm as we join Bay of Quinte Pride for a Transgender Remembrance service.

After church today many in attendance join Rev Isaac out front as we replaced our Pride flag. This and the Every Child Matters flags were removed in an act of vandalism. We will proudly replace both flags, and will never stop standing in solidarity with Indigenous peoples and with the LGBTQ+ community in our region.

We are so grateful to Rev David Mundy for leading another study group. You can join in-person or by zoom.

You may have seen in the news this past week that sadly we experienced an act of vandalism at the front of the church (Trenton United) where both our Pride Flag and our Every Child Matters Flag were torn down from their moorings outside the sanctuary entrance. We were saddened and disappointed to learn that this act had taken place, and we deeply appreciated the quick response and support from the OPP.
This coming Sunday morning (November 19th) through the help of our TUC Pride Team and Outreach Committee our plan is to raise new flags once more as a sign to the community that Trenton United won't let criminal acts or violence deter us from working toward greater solidarity with Indigenous peoples and with the LGBTQ+ community in our region. In worship on Sunday at 10:30 am in the Middle Auditorium we will celebrate the diversity of our church family, and gather as followers of the Christ who cherishes each one of us as God's children.
A reminder as well that if you would like to share in a further stand of solidarity, you are welcome to join Bay of Quinte Pride and the TUC Pride Team on Monday evening (November 20th) from 7 to 8 PM for a gathering in our Middle Auditorium at the church (85 Dundas Street East in Trenton) to commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance (doors will open at 6:30 PM).

This week during Sunday worship at 10:30 AM in the Middle Auditorium we’ll be beginning a new worship series called “Passion for the Possible” as we look to Christ’s hope in the challenges of today’s world. In week one of this series we will be centering on how we balance our fears and hopes about life beyond death, and how this impacts our lives in the here and now.

All are welcome. Bring a friend!

10/14/2023

This week we are pleased to have Rev David Mundy (yes the Reverend Father) as our worship leader. This week, in keeping with our current study series we invite you to consider the place and importance of the Sabbath in our lives.

While the term "sabbath" may seem like a relic from the past, the implications of our "pedal to the metal" society needs the corrective of what the Jewish scholar, Abraham Heschel, called "cathedrals in time", the opportunity for individuals, communities, and Creation to be restored.

All are welcome to join us Sunday at 10:30 for worship and our children's program.

We are also inviting members of the church family this Sunday to bring in an object that represents something that they are thankful for that we will put on a table at the front of the worship space in the Middle Auditorium during the service.

Hope to see you Sunday at 10:30 am.

This Sunday at Trenton United Church we will be commemorating Truth and Reconciliation Sunday as a congregation as we explore the prophetic witness of Indigenous peoples in our country in light of the environmental challenges faced by God's creation.

A reminder that you are invited to wear orange articles of clothing to church on Sunday or to wear the orange-shirt crocheted pendants that are available at the entrance of the worship space in the Middle Auditorium. We will also have a plate to collect free will donations to the United Church Healing Fund which helps to support the work of truth and reconciliation with indigenous communities in our country.

09/24/2023

Trenton United Church friends, can we ask you a favour? Whether you have a toy drum, a ukulele, or a spare tuba lying around the house, if you have one, could you bring an instrument with you to church on Sunday? You don't need to be a virtuoso, or even know how to play in order to qualify as an instrumentalist for this service, but the more instruments the better!
