This morning, comforted by ālove the journeyā and the lucky horseshoe gifted by a special friend when I left Ontario, over 10 years ago, Iāve finally found the words to share.
When we bought our property on Gary Road, and built our house, I truly believed it would be our forever home. Then, in 2021, when Two Blooms Flower Farm came to be, a new world of possibilities arose, and so did the question of how much we could really develop, at Gary Road.
Love the journey.
This past June, the completely unexpected happened. We stumbled across a property. Close to the city, in our school zone, and over 17 acres. We put in an offer & it was accepted. We quickly listed Gary Road, and rode the wave of the current market. A buyer came along, we took down the greenhouse and all of our growing beds this past weekend, and we move this Friday.
Love the journey.
Itās bittersweet, as Iām not the best with change. Some of our most treasured friendships were built on Gary Road. We brought our babies home to Gary Road. Two Blooms started at Gary Road. And so much more.
Love the journey.
We feel extremely fortunate to have this opportunity and are excited to make this new property our own, and eventually share it will all of you.
Love the journey.
On Friday, Iāll hang the horseshoe, in the new place where we will welcome our friends & family, and grow our girls, and next spring, along with the help of my biggest supporters, we will begin to re-build Two Blooms Flower Farm, for the bigger and better future that is to come.
The best cozy season event is back this November! Join, Two Blooms Flower Farm in our Wreath Making Workshop tradition.
As always, we will have a beautiful selection of the best of Mother Nature's winter greens, a cozy atmosphere, snacks & non-alcoholic beverages. Get a group together, or join us solo. You'll leave feeling refreshed, connected, and with a beautiful handmade wintergreen wreath.

Out in the cooler mornings picking the best for todays Farm Club subscribers; refreshing yet bittersweet. Itās moments like these that Iām reminded how thankful I am for you the opportunity to grow these beautiful things for you. A real dream come true.
Part 2: The Two Blooms Journey
I didnāt grow up on a farm, but agriculture has always been a part of my life. My first jobs were ag-related. I never expected to have my own business either. Itās just one of those things. In hindsight, you see that it was always really there, waiting for the timing to be right.
After finishing school, I began a career in Human Resources. Then I became a mom. For me, everything changed. I was no longer inspired by corporate culture and had been searching for the answer to what makes me truly happy and would blend well with my hopes for my motherhood experience. I craved the opportunity to spend my days with my girls, putting energy into something that was truly my own. Something that reflected the life my husband and I were creating, and would have a lasting impact on my girls.
In the summer of 2020, while in my garden, I finally decided to make the change I had been dreaming about. I found my husband, and announced: āI want to start a business growing flowersā.
So thatās how Two Blooms, an ode to my babies was born. I love flowers, and I love the challenge of growing them and designing with them even more. I love that we use them to connect with others, and I love how they are an important part of our most intimate moments.
Really good things can come when you step away from what youāve known. If youāre following along, I hope you are inspired to pursue the things that bring you joy!

āØI love being an entrepreneur and the process of bringing new ideas to life. When itās overwhelming, Iām learning about myself.
āØAmong many things Iām thankful for, my always supportive husband, undistracted time with my girls and a quiet Sunday top the list.
āØIām an east coast transplant - going on 12 years here! Iāve loved (almost) every (non-covid lockdown) minute of it!
āØI start every day with a latte (tea or coffee). Happiness in a cup.
āØOne day Iāll tour the cottage gardens of Great Britain and Iād love to live in Ireland for a year.
āØI aspire to practice pilates regularly, be an extra early riser and have some exciting hobbies to tell you about, but Iām in my mompreneur era, so we arenāt there yet.
āØThe physically demanding aspects of farming make me feel strong, and working in tune with mother nature is grounding.
āØBuilding something that is all mine fuels me, and I hope to inspire my girls to follow their hearts and make decisions that honour the best versions of themselves.

Fun fact, this year we started harvesting peonies on the same day as the last harvest last year. Farming is unpredictable, but I think the thrill of the chase keeps me coming back for more!
Most people are not willing to screw up long enough to gain the experience to become successful. You never know where the rocky road will lead you if you donāt stick with it - Lisa Mason Ziegler
Weāre in the first half of year 3, and Iām still learning so much about myself, my business, how to serve my customers, and the many facets of farming.
It still feels rocky, and thatās ok. If Iām not screwing up, finding areas to improve, starting new things, and letting old things go, then Iām not busy enough trying OR advancing toward the future of Two Blooms.
I wonāt ever be done learning.

When I started growing flowers, I quickly found great joy in designing beautiful things for life's most important moments. Iām passionate about showcasing the beauty of the season in an elevated way, which is why I use the term Farmer-Florist to describe my contributions to this growing industry!
Flower Farming is navigating infrastructure requirements and agriculture production best practices, with lots of troubleshooting, pest management, and working within the parameters of our often extreme weather patterns. Once the crop is harvested and properly prepared, Farmer-Florists present the product in unique & thoughtful designs.
Iām committed to a future of growth and improving the skills of my trade. Starting with the next few months - I have some really exciting projects on the go!

Flip over that pretty tag! There are many benefits when choosing local flowers, one being vase life! Local flowers reach your home much sooner than imported options. When harvested and conditioned properly, you will get to enjoy them for many days. There are a few things you can do to help keep your flowers fresh and thriving at home: š¼Trim the stems and place in a clean vase of cool water, with the flower food packet provided. (Mason jar arrangements - you can skip this step) š¼Be sure to remove foliage that is below the water line. š¼Check the water level daily and top up if needed. š¼Display in a cool spot, away from ripening fruit. š¼Remove spent blooms.
I remember the day. In 2017, the first summer at our property, I planted my first dahlia. I remember cutting the blooms and sending pictures to my mom - totally giddy from the beauty and fun of having real fresh flowers all over the house. I joked to my husband, ājust wait, someday Iāll have a whole field of this stuffā. Fast forward to the day. I was on maternity leave with our second bloom, amid the backdrop of a global pandemic. I had just returned home from a really long trip away. That past spring, I planted the cut flower garden, knowing that it would receive little attention during my time away. Regardless, the process of watching the season unfold would be worth it. Arriving home led me straight to the garden. While cutting and arranging what had flourished while I was away, I had a moment. Stillness. Enjoyment. Calm. Creativity. Clarity. A moment where I had really caught myself not thinking about anything āelseā. That moment stayed with me. It was a sign. A turning point. Prior to mat leave starting, I had an awesome job. Lovely colleagues, work that challenged me. Donāt get me wrong. I loved being a career person. But my personal life had evolved. With the new āMomā title in tow, I craved the opportunity to spend my days with my girls, independent of the 9 to 5 I had known. I craved the opportunity to put energy into something that was really truly my own. Something that reflected the life my husband and I were cultivating, and something that would have lasting impact on my little blooms. So, there it was. In my garden, the idea was born. I had finally been pushed to the point of courage, change and action. I found my husband, who happened to be mid-shower, and announced: āI want to start a business growing flowersā. After more explanation, he followed with: āso what do we have to do to get started?ā. I know I donāt have all the answers, but I do know that we all have to start somewhere. I hear that you have to start
Long weekend love! I headed to the garden this evening with one bucket, and did not expect to come home with so much beauty. My goal is to provide quality blooms, and I will only send things out that I am truly happy with. Tonight did not disappoint. Message me if you are interested in one of these jars. $15, pickup in Steeves Mountain (Saturday pickup only).
šThere are two queens at our house š My husband has been beekeeping. Itās been a fun learning experience, with the reward of really tasty honey. Plus, as pollinators, bees give plants the support they need to grow and produce. We enjoy being part of the benefits that beekeeping provides to the environment. Hereās what I captured while he was setting up our new hive. Each new frame full of bees was transferred into a hive box. This hiveās queen can be identified by the painted white circle.
*sold ā¤ļø* The Emilyā This arrangement is the finale of Two Bloomsā peony season. Packed with beautiful peonies, ranunculus, laceflower and greens inspired by my special friend. The friend who you āpick up where you left offā no matter how long its been, the friend who introduced me to peonies, the friend who feels more like a soul sister. For you, or for gifting a special person in your life. Only one available, and then theyāre gone. Message to claim.
āļø Today, along with some awesome help, the first 150ā of landscape fabric was burned! This fabric will be secured on top of the soil, and the holes will guide proper plant spacing. When plants are spaced properly, they have a greater chance of producing a successful yield. Black fabric will attract heat and warm the soil, creating the desired environment for the warm season seedlings that will be planted next. This product is really durable and will be reused for many seasons to come. Using landscape fabric is not a necessity in #flowerfarming but for me, it is most definitely is!! Using fabric will control a great majority of weeds, making the flower beds much more manageable for me, in my stage of life. šØāš©āš§āš§
