Let's talk money saving tips at the Supermarket! 🤑
We've seen a 10% inflation on food and as someone who runs two food business and hasn't raised my prices, I'm always looking for ways to save at the grocery store without sacrificing quality.
👊Do it yourself. Meaning, stop buying products that do the heavy lifting for you, such as ready made sauces, spice blends, chopped veggies etc. The only time this may work in your favor is if you're wanting to make a dish that requires mulitple ingredients you don't have. However, if it's food you make often, it's worth buying the spices initially to have for the future.
🕵️Watch the prices. Did you know ground beef fluctuates from approximately $7/kg to $11? Be sure you're paying attention to the prices and then stock up when it's at its lowest.
💵Buy on sale. This seems obvious but when chatting with someone who works in the meat department she said people often skip over the reduced meat. When the meat department puts items on sale check out the date and be sure to freeze in smaller portions as soon as you get home.

Do you have the right cutting board?🤔 Which tip is most surprising?
It might seem like a silly question but next to your knife, your cutting board is one of the most important tools you'll use.💯
Here's 3 mistakes you might be making when choosing a board.⤵
🧐It's too small. There's nothing more annoying than chopping on a board that doesn't give you room to work. Your cutting board should be at least 15 " wide but upwards of 17 is better. You want room to work.
⏩It moves. Ideally choose a board with silcone edges so that it doesn't move when you cut but you can always lay a slightly damp paper towel underneath if needed.
❎The wrong material. Don't use glass or it will dull your knife. I prefer plastic over wood. Wood can split over time when introduced to water and create small cracks that are hard to clean. A dishwasher safe plastic is the best choice.
Bonus tip: Keep separate cutting boards for raw meats and produce.

I'm a busy multi entrepreneur running two businesses and have zero time for a complicated breakfast. I also need to ensure I get at least 35g of protein in the morning. This is the perfect solution!😋💪
Serves 1
40g vanilla protein powder (I use whey isolate)
1 oz full fat canned coconut milk
2 oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk
100g frozen strawberries
Toppings
10g Keto granola (from Costco)
5g raw cacao nibs
Blend the first 4 ingredients together until smooth and top with granola and cacao nibs.
Macros: 39g P 9g Net Carbs 14g F

If you follow my stories, you know I'm obsessed with mine. I use it every day, sometimes twice a day and I'm itching to get a bigger one!🙈
Speaking of bigger, ovens have started coming with airfryer technology and I'm here to tell you it's a waste of your money.😲
The thing that makes an airfyer so good is the size. The air can circulate in a small confined space, making the ability to cook quickly and evenly easy. Once you start increasing the size, aka an oven, this vastly impacts the results.
The Simply Gourmet oven's have an airfryer setting and it's worse than the convection setting. If you're investing in a new oven don't be fooled by the airfryer buzz word and just choose convection.🙌
Now back to the airfryer. Does anyone have Emeril Lagasse's? My Mom does and loves it!

It's tasty Tuesday and I've been hinting at my new baked oats for a week!
This is one of my new faves!
Peach Crisp Baked Oats
Serves 1
35g rolled oats
130ml unsweetened almond milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
dash of salt
2 tsp maple syrup
25g vanilla protein powder (I used whey)
1/2 peach, diced
Topping
2 tsp rolled oats
1/2 tsp coconut palm sugar
heavy dash of cinnamon
light dash of salt
5 sprays coconut oil cooking spray
Mix together the first 8 ingredients in a small blender until smooth.
In a small bowl mix together the topping ingredients.
In a large ramekin or oven safe mug sprayed with cooking oil, pour in mixture. Drop peaches into batter and then top with topping.
Bake in the air fryer at 310 for 16 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before diving in.
Bake in the oven at 350 for approximately 25 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes.

You're not alone. I don't usually eat much sugar but this time of year I give myself permission to indulge more than usual.
And indulge was exactly what I did yesterday when eating this eggnog cream puff made by Crème Cream Puffs
I took my time and had a small moment while eating this delicious piece of heaven.
All too often we eat without intention or even much thought. Grab and shovel it in. Or worse, sneak the sweet treat and hold onto guilt for consuming it.
I find when you eat with intention and mindfulness not only do you enjoy the food more but you are less likely to over consume or feel guilty about it. Two things that surely won't make you feel good.
So far I've tried Crème Cream Puffs Gingerbread, Creme Brulee and Eggnog Cream Puffs and I have a hard time deciding which is my fave.

We are never ready for winter am I right? And it always feels like Summer JUST arrived, yet here we are again. The one thing I love about the cooler temps is all the cozy comfort dishes I love to make!
Last night I whipped up a gluten and dairy free chicken pot pie! We make this dish a lot for our clients. Instead of topping it with pastry it's topped with mashed sweet potatoes. The perfect dish to dig into on a cold winter night.
