Whether you are searching to purchase a bridal bouquet for your wedding, rent event showpieces, purchase individual stems and arrangements, or subscribe to a monthly or quarterly corporate floral program, your one-of-a-kind keepsake can be cherished for a lifetime. I am a floral designer with years of experience whose passion is to provide the most realistic, permanent, dried, and preserved botani

cals that truly delight and inspire my clients. I also want to change the bad reputation faux florals have and prove to the world how beautiful and luxurious they can be. Not only am I passionate about flowers, I'm also passionate about delivering products that WOW my customers. I can assist you in creating floral elements that marry your vision for your space or event with your budget for a truly outstanding look. From the elements and principles of design to color theory, trends, and design styles, I've got you covered. Why Faux Florals? When we think of special days in our lives, we often remember the beauty of the flowers that were associated with that day. And often these flowers are front and centre in the photos we cherish for years to come. While fresh flowers are certainly beautiful, they are expensive and perishable, often not lasting more than one or two days. With permanent botanicals, your flowers can last indefinitely, just like your memories.

Removing the lower blooms and leaves from the main flower stem maks it easier to arrange your flowers and gives a cleaner look to the arrangement.

Which is your favourite type of fresh eucalyptus? It’s hard to choose but I tend to lean towards Willow for its long sweeping branches or Gunni for its more sturdy branches and small leaves. 🌿🌿🌿

The best thing you can do to extend the vase life of your cut flowers by up to 60% is to use flower food. It stimulates water uptake and nutrition, aids in bud and flower development and helps keep leaves green and firm. If you'd like to order some to keep on hand, click the link in my bio ⤴️.

How can we create a low cost centerpiece?

To create a stunning yet cost-effective centerpiece, consider using greenery such as Italian Ruscus. With just one bundle of Italian Ruscus and one bundle of Israeli Ruscus, you can craft a captivating arrangement. The Italian Ruscus lends graceful, sweeping branches, while the Israeli Ruscus contributes straight, sturdy pieces and additional height. The resulting centerpiece spans over 3 feet in width and stands just under two feet tall, making it a perfect choice for a dinner party, event, or wedding without breaking the bank.

If you want to further enhance the centerpiece, you can consider adding a few blooms. I used two stems of Oriental Lilies, which bring in large, fragrant blooms and add an extra touch of elegance.

This is totally me! I actually try to avoid going to the local floral wholesaler because I ALWAYS purchase more than I intended. It's kind of like a trip to Costco. I go for one thing and $600.00 later....

Arch flowers are a great way to add dramatic flair to your wedding ceremony. And I love the idea of repurposing this piece at the reception on the head table. Faux, dried and preserved botanicals never looked so good!

As we head in to wedding season and the summer months, here's a look at a beautiful bride from last summer. Marina's white and green wedding pallette was classic and timeless and I'm sure she'll love looking at these photo's decades from now. IT’S PEONY SEASON🌺! Well, maybe not locally, but all the B. C. peonies are coming into the floral shops and grocery stores. This bouquet was made with three packages of grocery store blooms for a total of $38.00. Instead of purchasing additional greenery I used the greenery from the peonies themselves 🌺. In order to do this, I chose to use a short 6”x6” vase instead of a tall vase 🌺. This allowed me to separate the blooms from the greenery on each stem 🌺. I then placed all the greenery stems in the vase in a cross-cross pattern to create an armature to hold the flowers🌺. Next, I nestled the bloom amongst the armature and voilá! A gorgeous yet inexpensive peony arrangement. This arrangement would cost between $130-$180 from a good floral studio😲. What do you think - will you pick up some fresh peonies and give it a try?

In a previous post I mentioned that having a good pair of floral scissors is a key tool in fresh floral design. Floral scissors differ from regular scissors because they have sharper ridges designed to cut through the layers of floral stems without crushing them. These F-170 floral scissors, by Sakagen, are a great choice✂️. You may also like to have a pair of fabric shears on hand for cutting ribbon (I never use mine for anything else), a pair of snips (used for cutting delicate stems) and a pair of pruners, used for more firm stems like roses. Some people also have a second pair of pruners that are used exclusively for woodier stems and branches🌻. And don't forget, all tools need to be disinfected regularly and sharpened periodically.

For a summer wedding, consider using faux, dried and preserved botanicals. These options are resilient in the extreme heat and retain their beauty without wilting or dying, making them a reliable and visually appealing choice.🌸🌸🌸🌸

I get a lot of questions about arranging flowers at home and what basic tools are needed. Personally, I think you only need a few items to get started: 1️⃣A good pair of floral scissors. Mine are from Taiwan but you can order something online. 2️⃣1/4” clear floral tape. This is used to create a grid in top of your vase so arranging is easier (I’ll show you how in a future video). 3️⃣Floratape (wax coated paper tape). This is used for boutonnières, corsages, floral crowns, attaching florals together, etc. (I’ll show you more about this in the future as well). And if you’re super keen, you could get a floral knife but it’s not needed - you need to be very careful with these knives as it’s super easy to cut yourself (speaking from experience😜). 🌸Once you get used to using these basic supplies you can consider adding Floral Foam for wet arrangements, Waterproof Florist Tape, Floral Adhesive (commonly used when creating boutonnières and corsages) and Bind Wire (used for, you guessed it, attaching things together). I look forward to showing you how to use these tools in future posts. In the meantime, if you ever have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out - I’d love to hear what you’d like to learn. 🌺🌼🌺🌼🌺🌼🌺

If you’re a gardener, you’re probably excited for peony season. Peonies are one of my favourite flowers because they remind me of my mom. Her garden was spectacular and I always remember the dark burgundy peonies - so unique. I’m not sure of the variety but perhaps they were Karl Rosenfield’s.

I’ve been working on some large scale pieces for a business anniversary. They are all created from faux, dried and preserved botanicals so no watering is required and they’ll last a lot longer than fresh blooms.
