Our night started off really fn' strange but ended just right for Valentine's. ๐๐น ๐โจ๏ธ๐
Spontaneously we went to the riverside Town of Elora. ๐
As we walked into the town, we saw a pub and figured we'd grab a quick pint before the Lighting Ceremony. ๐ก
Instead, we got kicked out!! ๐ฎ ...
I gotta say, it's the first time I've been kicked out of a bar BEFORE havin' a drink! ๐คฃ ...
We tried reasoning with the Host, "No," he said... I said, "I'd like to talk with the manager ... he said, the manager says, "No"...
I said, "Ah, ok, well, that's a little strange?" ๐
At this point, a really nice guy gave us his seat at the bar, and there was another empty seat next to him. So I'm thinkin, cool, this is workin' out. ๐๐ช๐ช
We went to sit down, and the server stopped us. ๐ซธ That's when it got weird.
I said, "You don't have reservations till 7, and it's not even 6, yet!" He said, "Some people come in early..."
I said, "Then what's the point of a reservation? ... We'll have our drinks and be on our way, thanks."
He continued to follow us and refused to let us sit. Insisting the empty bar seats were reserved (for 7 pm) as well. ๐
I said, "But isn't this a pub? ... I don't understand why we can't stand at the bar (or near it) and have a drink just like an actual pub in the UK. It's kinda false advertising if ya ask me." ๐
It felt really rude & awkward at that point, so we left laughing at the absurdity of it all. ๐๐
Why would a pub want empty seats (for over an hour) before their Valentine's reservations come in? ๐ค
Don't you want business? ๐ค ...
I guess they don't really need it. ๐คท
We ended up at the Elora Brewing Company instead and had a wonderful experience. ๐ป
I highly recommend their
"Wandering Monk" ๐ถโโ๏ธ(Belgium IPA) and
"Goin' North" ๐จ๐ฆ (Stout) ...
and the food was delicious too. ๐
Oh, and the band (Hellion Ton) did a badass cover of "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star โญ๏ธ which is one of my fave songs. ๐ซถ
All in all... we kept it fuN and light and just went with the flow. ๐ฆ
