Free concert of chamber music (1 hour long) at Valois United church this Saturday October 26 at 7:30 pm. It's a great chance to get out of the house for a wee bit to see some talented musicians. It really is FREE and open to every age.

This concert has been sponsored by the "Music Performance Trust Fund (MPTF)" and "Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec (GMMQ)". These organizations exist to lift and support local musicians, to enrich the lives of the general public, young and old through music, and to promote the value of music as well as the vital contribution of professional musicians to society.

Schumann : « Année du lied » ~ Amours du poète et Amours et vie d’une femme

En 1840, un chapitre capital se déroule dans la vie de Robert Schumann. Ce fut une année d’amour et de génie artistique, car non seulement il unit sa vie avec Clara par le mariage, mais il composa également un nombre impressionnant de 138 lieder.

Aujourd’hui, dans le cadre d’une délicieuse célébration de l’Année des chansons de Schumann, la Série de concerts Valois est fière de présenter une performance captivante de la talentueuse soprano Ella Wilhelm. Accompagnée de la codirectrice artistique de la Série de concerts Valois, Judy Hung, ce duo enchanteur donnera vie à deux des lieder les plus marquants de Schumann de cette année emblématique: “Dichterliebe”(Amours du poète) et “Frauenliebe und Leben” (Amours et vie d’une femme).

Contribution volontaire ($10 suggéré)
Les étudiants de moins de 18 ans sont invités à assister aux concerts gratuitement.

In the year 1840, a momentous chapter unfolded in the life of Robert Schumann. It was a year of love and artistic brilliance, as he not only joined his life with Clara through marriage but also composed a staggering number of 138 lieders.

Now, in a delightful celebration of Schumann’s Year of Songs, the Valois Concert Series proudly presents a captivating performance by the talented soprano Ella Wilhelm. Collaborated by co-artistic director of the Valois Concert Series, Judy Hung, this enchanting duo will breathe life into two of Schumann’s most prominent lieders from this iconic year: “Dichterliebe”(Poet’s Love) and “Frauenliebe und Leben” (Women’s Love and Life).
