I couldnt do this dinner without stuffed red peppers with ground beef, herbs and rice. Of course I'll serve with the dish.

My parents are from Amynteon and neighboring Ag. Panteleimon (Florina). It's a 90 min. drive NW from Thessaloniki, a plateau (720m. above sea level).

There, you find a unique terroir producing some of Greece's finest wines and some local restaurants that feature the local cuisine with these wines.

The pork - tender, the sauce thickened with an egg/lemon emulsion we call Avgolemono, lots of leeks, stewed romaine leaves and fresh dill.

Made my today...aka Billy Pie. It's a cake (bread) made for Jan.1st aka St. Basil's Day.

As the New Year rolls over, Greek families all over the world will share the tradition of cutting the Vasilopita, our Greek New Year’s cake. January 1st is the name day (saint’s day) of Aghios Vassilis (St. Basil), the Greek Santa Claus, and the cake is named in his honor. While Christmas is a more solemn occasion, January 1st is filled with celebrations and the exchange of gifts.

However it’s fixed, cutting the Vasilopita is a celebration of wishes for the new year.

Each Vasilopita is baked with a coin or medallion hidden inside which, according to tradition, will bring great good fortune in the new year to the person who gets it, so the cutting is all-important and the focus of great scrutiny!

Melomakarona cookies are used to make the base, a new york style cream cheese filling baked in bain marie and the topping is walnuts, cinnamon sugar just like topping the cookie. Its a great twist on cheesecake. enjoy!

Creme Brulee has to be one of the easiest and most satisfying desserts. A gift from the French to the rest of the world.

It’s a no brainer to serve this for your guests as it can be made ahead of time, allowing you to be with your guests rather than in the kitchen for the entire meal.

You’ll impress your guests also when you pull out your torch and brown (brulee) the sugar on top.

A savory appetizer I call Duck Baklava.

Duck confit, mushrooms, cheese, spices make up the savory filling thats rolled in pastry.

Finished with a sauce of sour cherry and demi glace. This has been a big hit during the holidays.

Years ago, I attended a Christmas party/dinner where the dessert was one of those sticky English puddings. I loved how moist and flavourful the pudding (cake) was and the caramel sauce was dreamy.

I’ve finally gotten around to making my own version and I also served it to guests at my last Supper Club that took place just a couple of days ago. This recipe hot!

The main components of the this dessert are macerated dried fruit, dry ingredients and wet ingredients. Eventually they are mixed together to make a cake batter where they can be baked in ramekins or muffin tins (your choice).

Although not part of the the cake recipe, the caramel sauce is also a must – the spiced warm pudding draped with the warm caramel sauce is an Mmm-Mmm good moment.
